Situated in lovely Acklington – a previous winner of Northumberland Village of the Year – this enchanting cottage provides a great base from which to explore the region’s numerous terrific sights. On the edge of the village you will find The Railway Inn, a dogand child-friendly hostelry that hosts monthly Northumbrian music nights and serves dishes using locally sourced produce. A few miles away is the bustling port of Amble, where you can stroll around its atmospheric marina, browse the Sunday market and even try out some water sports on the sandy beach. Just a little further north, the ancient village of Warkworth is dominated by a medieval castle and really comes alive during the annual Puffin Festival in May.
All the accommodation in the property is on the ground floor, so ideal for guests with restricted mobility. An entrance hall leads to the inviting lounge, where you can snuggle up on the two comfortable sofas in front of the wood burner and enjoy entertainment including DVD, CD and iPod dock. The adjacent dining room has delightful views of the front garden and features a table and chairs to accommodate six, a desk and another wood burner. A step down and you are in the contemporary kitchen that’s includes an electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, plus more of those great views (this time of the huge rear garden). The master bedroom comprises a double bed, wardrobe and dual-aspect windows, while a second double bedroom and a bathroom – accessed down two stairs – with a shower over the bath and WC complete the accommodation.
Outside the property is a fenced-off patio area with table, chairs and BBQ, plus half an acre of grassed paddock incorporating, a bird watching / star gazing hut with fire pit affectionately called 'The Cherry Tree Arms'' and football goals - we think you may well be spending a fair bit of time outdoors!
An outbuilding houses a tumble dryer and bicycles can also be securely stored in an outhouse at the rear. There is off-road parking for 2/3 cars.
