Surrounded by tranquil countryside, Holly Cottage is a peaceful hideaway – perfect for an escape back to nature. While the cottage is secluded, it is not completely detached from civilisation and is situated close to the idyllic village of Blanchland which houses shops, tearooms and a post office. From hiking to fishing and sailing, there’s plenty to do in the local area. The beautiful Derwent Reservoir is a particularly popular spot with keen fishers, as it is brimming with rainbow trout, as well as hikers who enjoy the breath-taking reservoir views. Only 11 miles from the property are the lovely market towns of Hexham and Corbridge, as well as the world-famous Hadrian’s Wall.

The cottage is cosy and welcoming and is equipped with all the facilities needed for a family holiday. The ground floor hosts a spacious lounge with comfortable chairs and TV/DVD. The fully-equipped breakfasting kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. You’ll also find a spacious dining room with a large table, seating seven, and a cloakroom with WC on the ground floor. The four bedrooms – two double, one twin and one single can all be found on the first floor, alongside the large bathroom which contains a shower over bath and WC. There is also an additional shower room upstairs. The cottage is furnished throughout to a very high standard and there is plenty of space for the family to either spend time together or relax separately. The cottage is well-lit but also enjoys an abundance of natural light throughout, with plenty of windows.

The property is surrounded by a shared gravel courtyard, complete with comfortable garden furniture – perfect for sunny afternoons and family dinners outdoors. The cottage has an allocated off-road parking space and welcomes two dogs.

Stayed here with a group of friends for a week. Lovely surroundings. The location was rural without being inconvenient. The house itself functions well. A few things could use updating such as the old electric hob and the bathrooms, however this doesnt take anything away from the five star review - everything functions as needed and it has everythiRead moreng you need. We had rather a wet time of it in our two week stay but were cosy and warm in the property. The cottage is well equipped and plenty of room for 6 adults to dine and sit in comfort. There are are plenty of local walks and lots of interesting places to visit in the area.

A lovely and comfortable cottage. The kitchen was surprisingly well equipped. The dinning table is a great size for 6 people (excellent for playing board games). The beds were all comfortable. Fab cottage for multigenerational holidays. We visited with our son, daughter-in-law and grandson. There was loads of space, the cottage was really well equipped and sparkling clean. We loved the remoteness of the location and especially the ducks and ducklings next door. The scenery is stunning and nowhere is too far away in a car.
