This traditional log cabin, built and furnished in a traditional style is the perfect retreat for families and couples. Close to bustling market towns and the city of Newcastle.

This sweet wooden cabin is the ideal place to base yourself as you explore the beautiful countryside and coast of Northumberland. Sitting on the edge of the National Park, it is within walking distance of two local village pubs as well as looking over the beautiful Harbottle Forest. The park is famed for its wide variety of rare and common animals, including otters, red squirrels and the Chillingham Wild Cattle. Black Grouse can be heard over the hills in early Spring and the rare Osprey is a popular summer visitor. A short drive away are the bustling market towns of Alnwick and Morpeth and for shops and dining, the city of Newcastle is a great day out.

The cabin is set out over one floor, with a lounge and dining area with TV. The kitchen area has an electric oven, microwave and fridge and use of a laundry area. There are two bedrooms, one double and a bunk bedroom with full-size bunks. A bathroom with roll-top bath, basin and WC is situated next to the bedrooms.

Outside, there is a very private garden area with garden furniture and views of the hills and river bank. Here you can sit and listen to the sounds of the river as you dine alfresco. There is an allocated parking space.

Very nice cottage in a lovely area

Reviewed by Paul, 9th November 2018

The property wasn't very clean (the kitchen was filthy) and is not in a very good state of repair (eg the bathroom door and toilet roll holder are broken). The garden was 'secured' by old garden chairs leant across a gap and if you arrive in the dark, good luck finding this property as there is no lighting or signage. The boiler also supplies the pRead moreroperty nextdoor so if you're staying in that cottage you're at the mercy of your neighbours for heating and hot water. Hide

Had a nice stay, looks a lot bigger on photos. The bath was fab with lovely hot water all the time. Had a lovely stay, suitable for family of 3 but no more really. Met the lovely family that live in the farm house that helped me out when I lost my husband and the key!!! Had a gorgeous meal in the local pub real home made food.

Lovely little cottage in a very remote part of Northumberland which made it very peaceful. All our needs were catered for within the cottage and there were plenty of lovely walks, forests and places to visit nearby. Would definitely recommend it to people.

The cottage was very cosy, we can't wait to come again. Wish we stayed for a full week instead of 3 nights! Very clean, also being a dog friendly cottage it did not smell of dog. Very happy, bed was lovely and the bath was huge! Loved the cottage!! Very cosy and had everything you need, the bath is huge! I liked the closed off garden, maRead morede you feel you had your privacy. The location of the cottage is surrounded by beautiful scenery, there are also walks from your doorstep if don't want to go far. The location of the cottage isn't too far from villages or places like Sea Houses and Alnwick. I would highly recommend people visit Cragside, located near Rothbury which is around a 20 minute drive from the cottage. Cragside allows dogs on the grounds, was lovely seeing the gardens and walking the grounds. Rothbury has also got many pubs and shops, with some nice bakery's. We are definitely coming again!! Hide

Basic but adequate and comfortable cottage in a lovely location with beautiful views. Enough room for 2 adults and 2 young children. Good base for exploring Northumberland with child friendly walks on the doorstep. Three Wheat Heads in Thropton, good food and very family friendly. Also, The Black Bull in Wooler.

Great little holiday cottage in a fantastic location for all things Northumberland. The wood burner made it cosy even on a freezing late December night and to walk out of the door straight into the silent countryside was just fantastic for seeing the incredible clear night skies. Well-equipped (although a shower or shower attachment would be usefulRead more) but the bath is deep and big, lovely. There's no phone signal but there's free Wifi if you don't want to be entirely cut off from the world. Hide
