Located in the historic marketing town of Castle Douglas, known as Scotland’s ‘Food Town’. The town has a unique shopping experience with an array of speciality shops, numerous eateries and a traditional friendly pub. Explore The Galloway Forest Park and the fantastic Red Kite Trail. Enjoy dark sky stargazing, with the area awarded the status of being one of only four "Dark Sky Parks" in the western world! Visit the historic Threave Castle, situated on an island in the River Dee. Located on the banks of Loch Ken, is the Galloway Activity Centre. Perfect for water sports enthusiasts and has an amazing choice of activities including laser tag, archery and a 25 foot climbing tower with zipwire to enjoy.  Both the Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory and Cream of Galloway visitor centre are a short drive away and offer an excellent day out for all of the family!

Stepping inside the reverse-level stylish house from the front enclosed garden into the hall, through to the light and bright super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made up as a twin on request at the point of booking) with a wall mounted flat screen Smart TV/DVD, iPod docking station and french doors leading out to the enclosed patio area with private hot tub. Followed by the lovely stylish bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. The next bedroom is the pretty super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom (which can be made up as a twin on request at the point of booking) with iPod docking station and wall mounted Smart TV/DVD. Completing the ground floor is the utility area located under the stairs with washer/dryer. Heading up the stairs you are met with the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner area. The lounge with full length bi-folding doors on to the splendid balcony, enjoying magnificent views over Carlingwark Loch. The kitchen area is well-equipped with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave. With the dining area, ideal for romantic and family gatherings. The lounge area is also the perfect place to relax and enjoy a good film on the Smart TV, or to listen to your favourite music on the iPod docking station. Followed by the stylish shower room shower and WC.

Heading outside to the front of the property is the small enclosed garden with table and chairs, bike store and BBQ. With the fully enclosed rear patio with a wonderful private hot tub to enjoy. There is a large balcony on the first floor, with comfy seating area perfect for al fresco dining and to admire the magnificent views over the loch and beyond. Off-road parking is available for two cars, directly in front of the property. For larger parties, both Loch Carlingwark Lodge and Lodge 2 can be booked together, they are adjoining properties and both the patio and balconies have interconnecting gates to allow access between the two properties.

Lovely apartment, had everything we needed. Fabulous to look out over the loch in a morning. Lots of places to eat and drink and little shops to explore on the wettest of days.

Fantastic cottage. Well equipped. We lacked for nothing. Hot tub lovely and checked every other day. We made good use of it. Needed to contact owner a couple of time's and he was very helpful and sorted our small issues promptly. Useful welcome pack with local produce which we thoroughly enjoyed. Comfortable beds We had a great stay. Thank you

We had a wonderful week at this fantastic apartment in Castle Douglas. The property has everything you could possibly need, and the added bonus of a hot tub to relax away the hours! Location is great, and Castle Douglas itself is a really friendly place to stay.

Excellent, our second visit and we'll return again total home from home. The hosts are quick to resolve any issues and they should be very proud of such a lovely accommodation. A visit to King street is well worth it, lovely independent butchers and bakery shops. We would highly recommend a visit.

We had a great week, and were lucky to get good weather so were able to use the balcony most days. The view to the loch is marvellous, and the park is well used by local people. There is a popular children's playground close to the property, but all well-behaved and fun! The property itself is of a very high standard throughout, with clear attentioRead moren to detail. This property is very high quality accomodation which has been setup with every comfort in mind for the guests, super clean, very comfy bed, excellent location just a few minutes walk out of Castle Douglas with lovely views over Carlingford Loch, would definitely recommend, ideal for our dog with plenty of walks nearby.

This property was amazing, spotless, beautifully equipped with comfortable furnishings. Bed super comfy with easy access to wonderful hot tub. The accommodation was outstanding with a tremendous attention to detail and quality. Would highly recommend the apartment to anyone looking for holiday break. We were happy just to stay at the apartment and take in the activity overlooking the Loch. However, you cannot visit Scotland without visiting some of the outstanding sights and scenery. The lodge needs to be seen to appreciate just how high end everything is, right down to the Denby crockery. We were very fortunate with the weather but this was the most comfortable, relaxing break we have ever had. One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. It was my wife's 60 th birthday and she really loved the home and the hot tub. Ideal for base for touring the area. Owners have put a lot of work into the property. It had all the mod cons you need and was spotless which I liked as I am quite fussy. So thank you all.
