Footpaths within a hundred yards of the cottage, lead to the coast at Shanklin and there is a particularly scenic trail across fields and downs to Ventnor, offering panoramic views across Sandown Bay. The pretty village of Godshill is also within a five minute drive and has a number of friendly public houses serving high quality food, teashops and charming shops.

Within one mile from the cottage is a post office, shop and telephone. A regular bus service runs half a mile away.
