  • Part of a small complex of cottages situated in the grounds of Steephill Castle
  • Located in the much-loved seaside town of Ventnor, just a short walk from the town’s beach
  • Situated adjacent to Ventnor Park Gardens, and within waking distance of Steephill Cove and Ventnor Botanic Gardens
Property code: IC025

Ground-floor stable conversion property sleeping two guests, clustered around an attractive courtyard alongside other holiday cottages, situated just a short walk from Ventnor seafront.

This attractively converted stable is located just a short distance to the west of the main beach in the seaside resort of Ventnor, on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight. Just next to the property, Ventnor Park Gardens make for a pleasant place to walk, and perhaps spend an enjoyable afternoon on the putting green. The seafront in Ventnor is reminiscent of times past, with deckchair hire, an array of small shops selling snacks and seaside paraphernalia, and a children’s paddling pool. For a quieter beach experience, the secluded Steephill Cove is just a short walk from the property, and as it is only accessible by foot, is far quieter than the main esplanade and is home to the well-regarded Crab Shed seasonal restaurant.

Guests approach this property across the shared courtyard, before entering the cottage directly into the open plan living space. Consisting of a lounge/diner, this elegant space has been thoughtfully finished with well-chosen furnishings, and featuring a large bay window, a large feature fireplace, and an inviting Chesterfield sofa, as well as a TV/DVD with the basic Sky package. There is a separate galley kitchen which is perfectly in keeping with the style of the cottage, where guests will find an electric oven and gas hob, microwave and fridge with ice compartment. For those who wish to do laundry whilst away, there is a laundry service available by arrangement. Towards the rear of the room, one step leads up to the bedroom and bathroom and moving through to the bedroom, guests will find a delightful sanctuary-like space which has been finished in a chic style, with exposed floorboards, wooden beams, a double bed, and patio doors which lead out onto a courtyard seating area. The bathroom, meanwhile, offers a free-standing bath with a hand-held shower over the bath and WC. There is also access to the courtyard garden through the bathroom.

Outside, the property benefits from a south-facing courtyard garden for which there is garden furniture provided. There is off-road parking provided for one car, just to the front of the property.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

This very quirky cottage is in a pretty part of Ventnor next to the park and 5 mins from the sea with a short walk to the centre of Ventnor, shops and restaurants. It is a convenient location for exploring the rest of the Island and near to the Botanic gardens and the very pretty Steephill cove ( the crab pasties there are delicious)

The cottage is very quirkily furnished and perfect for a couple. We liked the sunny private courtyard garden accessed through French doors from the bedroom. The coast path is accessed from just behind the property and Ventnor's shops are only a 15 minute walk. The Spyglass Inn is also close by and serves good pub food, cider and real ale. AMAZING location, we couldn't have asked for better - sandwiched between Ventnor Park and Steephill Cove. We had a near perfect week here. Loved the quirky interior, big bath and little sunny patio. Only recommendation would be if you plan to do your own cooking, bring any personal "can't do without" items with you (eg a non stick frying pan or verRead morey sharp meat knife, electric whisk or favourite cafetiere), as the kitchen has a slightly hit and miss collection! Also hand soap. But a FAB place!! Hide

We had a lovely holiday at the coach house. The property is quite large. The living room has a lovely shaped glass window in the roof and lets a lovely lot of light in. The TV is good with sky tv. The bathroom is great. The bath is lovely and long. The bedroom has the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in and there is an old fashioned wash basiRead moren in the bedroom as well. The bedroom looks out onto a lovely little courtyard. If you like rustic and quirky you will love the coach house. Hide

Comfortable enough but definitely at the "quirky" end of the scale. The bed room was perfect - comfy bed, plenty of warm bedding (we visited over Xmas) and the living room cosy (once we worked out how to turn the radiators on) and had an amazing skylight just above the couch so was not at all dim during the day. The kitchen is a rather cramped gallRead moreery style and the bathroom decidedly eccentric but we managed and it made a very restful retreat at the end of a stressful year. Hide

Lovely cottage, needs a good cleaning and a bit of updating, especially in the kitchen. Good bed, nice bathroom and the centre of Ventnor is just down the road. Steephill Cove is lovely and you can do a nice walk by the coastal path to the Spyglass Inn where they serve excellent food,

Beautiful little cottage, complete with original floor boards and original beams! It's just the right size for a couple, bed is super soft, sofa is lovely. There's no shower but roll top bath is a treat. Great location in Ventnor.
