This cottage is perfectly located for those who want to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside whilst still being within easy reach of beaches, attractions, pubs, and shops. The village of Godshill just two miles from the cottage, is a pretty place with attractive cottages, numerous tea rooms, independent shops selling artisan products, and a specialist fossil shop which is also the base for booking fossil-hunting tours. To the east of the property, meanwhile, the seaside village of Shanklin offers a sandy beach backed by food outlets, amusements, and an adventure golf course, whilst Shanklin Old Village itself is a pretty collection of gift shops and cafes.

The main entrance to this property is accessed from the lane via a set of ten external steps which bring guests to the door at the side of the cottage. Once inside guests can make themselves at home after their journey in the homely dual-aspect lounge which has two inviting sofas, a wood burner, exposed floorboards, and a large flat screen Smart TV.  There is a separate dining room which is ideal for lingering over meals, whilst the kitchen looks out over the garden and is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and Nespresso coffee machine. A separate tumble dryer, meanwhile, can be found in a separate utility area. The shower room with its shower and WC can also be found on the ground floor whilst upstairs there are three bedrooms, the first of which is a charming room with a king size bed and feature fireplace. The second bedroom is a pleasant twin room, whilst the third is a restful single room to which an additional single pull out bed can be added to accommodate a sixth guest. The bathroom on this floor offers a bath and WC.

The property is surrounded by gardens on three sides, including a terraced patio seating area to the side, which has garden furniture provided, and a spacious lawn to the front and rear of the cottage which offers plenty of space to relax and play games. We were absolutely delighted with One Elm Cottage and loved exploring the Island from Roud. The furniture (lovely sofas and comfortable beds), furnishings and facilities were superb. What a delight to find such a treasure - both cottage and gardens were lovely.

You will love the quiet location, but easy to access lots of places! Garden a delight and fantastic for children and pets, the dog was at home immediately

We had a lovely and relaxing stay in Elm Cottage. It is set in a beautiful location, and is a very pretty and comfortable cottage with plenty to do nearby for our three young children and dog. Thank you!

We loved our week staying here. It's wonderful having zero traffic noise. Walking and cycling in February we got wet and muddy, the cottage is cosy to come back to and had everything we needed to get our clothes clean and dry. We used the woodburner every evening - wood is provided for one or two sessions, you can buy more from local shops. We wereRead more lucky no-one was staying at Two Elm Cottage, so we could use the step-free access all week. That was much easier as we had bicycles with us. Hide

Its a great cottage, quiet, secluded with lovely views from the bedrooms. There is parking for one car on a shared drive belonging to the neighbour. If you have any mobility problems then you might find the access into this cottage very difficult if not impossible to make on a regular basis. Lovely log fire, lots of room to spread out, good shower,Read more good night's sleep and everything works in the kitchen. The cottage was very well equipped with a lot of detail given to the smaller kitchen utensils. The living room was comfortable and cosy and we even managed to have one log fire. Dining room was large and spacious as were the 3 bedrooms. Nice to have bathroom upstairs and shower room downstairs. A lovely cottage with a lovely cottage garden. Extremely well equipped, very comfortable. Ideal central location on the Island. On arrival the key safe by the door would not open so we had to call the local agent to attend the cottage to assist with entry. We found the TV guide complicated and needs clearer instructions. Lovely cosy cottage with pretty gardens in a quiet location but can easily reach all parts of the island by car. The log burner was great on a chilly evening. Just wished we found the heater in the kitchen sooner, it's on the kickboard of the cupboard next to the fridge. The guest book told us about it but we didn't read the book straight away and Read moreonly found out few days later! It really heats the kitchen up quickly as it has stone floors. This is a lovely cottage and we highly recommend staying here to future guests. The location is ideal for exploring the island. Very calm setting, yet close to amenities. The cottage is very clean and comfortable with great beads and good sofas. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. We loved the log fire.
