Traditional stone cottage offering comfortable accommodation for up to six guests, enjoying a quiet location in a rural hamlet just two miles outside the picturesque village of Godshill.

This cottage is perfectly located for those who want to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside whilst still being within easy reach of beaches, attractions, pubs, and shops. The village of Godshill just two miles from the cottage, is a pretty place with attractive cottages, numerous tea rooms, independent shops selling artisan products, and a specialist fossil shop which is also the base for booking fossil-hunting tours. To the east of the property, meanwhile, the seaside village of Shanklin offers a sandy beach backed by food outlets, amusements, and an adventure golf course, whilst Shanklin Old Village itself is a pretty collection of gift shops and cafes.

The main entrance to this property is accessed from the lane via a set of ten external steps which bring guests to the door at the side of the cottage. Once inside guests can make themselves at home after their journey in the spacious dual-aspect lounge which has two inviting sofas, a wood burner, exposed floorboards, and a TV/DVD. There is a separate dining room which is ideal for lingering over meals, whilst the kitchen looks out over the garden and is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and a washing machine. A separate tumble dryer, meanwhile, can be found in a separate utility area. The shower room with its shower and WC can also be found on the ground floor whilst upstairs there are three bedrooms, the first of which is a charming room with a standard double bed and feature fireplace. The second bedroom is a pleasant twin room, whilst the third is a restful single room to which an additional single pull out bed can be added to accommodate a sixth guest. The bathroom on this floor offers a bath and WC.

The property is surrounded by gardens on three sides, including a terraced patio seating area to the side, which has garden furniture provided, and a spacious lawn to the rear of the cottage which offers plenty of space to relax and play and even has a trampoline for younger guests. Shared driveway with adjoining cottage providing driveway parking for one car.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A cosy, comfortable, well equipped holiday home, providing an ideal base to explore the island from. Plenty of space and the hosts had thought of everything you might need for your stay. Good facilities for young children too.

The cottage and gardens were lovely, exceptionally peaceful with beautiful countryside. If there was one slight down side it would be the parking provided. Our dogs especially enjoyed the walk along the river Yar which is just a few minutes from the cottage. Overall a comfortable well equipped cottage providing a relaxing holiday. One thing I would Read moresuggest is not to miss your ferry and arrive in pouring rain and gale force winds in the dark it's quite hard to find. Hide

Situated in a lovely secluded location but pretty convenient for anywhere in the island. Godshill was close by and we enjoyed eating in Woods (service and food really good - plus excellent gluten free support). All in all very good.

Lovely cottage with loads of equipment, including games that we made the most of while there (the Isle of Wight Monopoly was the particular favourite). Lovely location and grounds. Well worth the few days we had there.

We had a lovely time at Elm Cottage and the biscuits were very welcoming. All the footpaths around the area were great for dog walks, We liked the trampoline and garden and watching the guinea fowl on the barn roof. Unfortunately, the weather wasnt great but we had a lovely holiday all the same. Thank you for a perfect holiday in the Isle of Wight.Read more Hide

This is a fantastic cottage in an ideal rural retreat, but still close enough to Godshill to make it a great base for exploring the island. The cottage was so peaceful and had a real holiday feel to it. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had a very enjoyable stay. We loved the peace and quiet of the cottage no passing traffic in the lane , except for the occasional horse. The garden was perfect for children to play and the dog loved it too. A perfect inland location to explore the Island .
