  • Delightful Grade II listed cottage occupying one wing of a large house with private secluded patio area
  • Located within three acres of landscaped grounds, surrounded by open fields
  • Situated just five miles from the beaches at Ventnor and Shanklin
Property code: IC052

This property enjoys an idyllic situation, set within three acres of grounds which, in turn, are surrounded by fields which provide an attractive backdrop to enjoying relaxing country walks and cycling. One such walk brings visitors to the charming village of Godshill, under one mile away which is a great central base for exploring all that the Isle of Wight has to offer. This well-appointed village has a lovely olde worlde feel to it with its independent specialist shops, tea rooms, pub/restaurants, thatched cottages and an interesting model village. A mile in the opposite direction, meanwhile, leads to Appuldurcome House, an English Heritage property which boasts beautiful gardens landscaped by Capability Brown. Other attractions nearby include the beaches at Ventnor and Shanklin, Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Ventnor Golf Course with views aplenty and the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary.

An impressive drive leads to the front of this Regency manor house, one wing of which is occupied by the holiday cottage. One and a half steps will lead guests inside to find the hallway which leads onto the lounge/diner. This elegant room has a large bay window in front of which sits the dining table, allowing guests to enjoy the views across the grounds as they eat. An inviting sofa and armchairs give guests a comfortable spot from which to enjoy those views, or perhaps settle down for the evening in front of the Smart TV with DVD player. Another door from the hallway leads to the galley-style kitchen which is equipped with everything that guests will need to prepare their favourite dishes, including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, Dualit toaster, Nespresso coffee machine and washer/dryer. The property’s bedroom is a charming light-filled room with a king-size bed with sumptuous Egyptian cotton sheets. This room also has extra space for an additional single bed. The bathroom, meanwhile, offers a shower over bath and WC.

To the front of the property there is a private patio with garden furniture which is exclusively for guests’ use, where red squirrels can often be spotted in the gardens. One car can be parked close to the property, or in the garage which can alternatively be used to store bikes etc.

A large appartment which was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Surrounded by fields it was in an ideal situation for us as walkers with footpaths at the end of the drive and a bus stop a few minutes walk away with buses to Newport, Ventnor and Shanklin. We had a wonderful week at Godshill Park House Wing, set in the beautiful countryside of Godshill it is a short walk to the village but also into lots of walks surrounding the property. A well kitted out flat with an unusually large and airy living and dining area lit by a huge bay window that looks out onto a well kept garden. The location, right next to the Red Squirrel Trail, allowed us to get to Sandown and other places easily by bike, and we were delighted to spot a real Red Squirrel in the garden a couple of times!
