Located on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight and enjoying fantastic sea views, this lovely stone and flint house is just a short walk from the centre of the charming seaside resort of Ventnor.

Ventnor is a delightful small seaside resort with a range of interesting shops, excellent restaurants, public houses, wine bars and charming gardens. It has a secluded beach where you can enjoy swimming, paddling and fishing, and fresh fish can be purchased daily from the harbour. The location is renowned for its microclimate which allows exotic species of plants to grow and a number of these can be seen in the renowned Botanic Garden. There is a lovely coastal walk linking Ventnor with Shanklin and there are many beautiful walks further inland. The larger sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are just a short drive away, and you can also enjoy such hidden gems as Bonchurch and Steephill Cove.

Built in 1866 by Captain Mark Huish, this fantastic property stands at the end of a small terrace of similar stone and flint houses, and offers sea views from the three upper floors. The main entrance, via an ancient gothic style front door, is on the first floor, where you will find the bright and welcoming lounge. With comfy seating, a traditional wood burner, TV, Blu-ray DVD and music system with Bluetooth, this is a lovely space to relax in at the end of a great day. You will also find a charming dining room where you can enjoy a meal in style. Heading down to the ground floor you will find a stylishly designed kitchen with an electric double oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and coffee maker. The freezer and washer/dryer are housed in a nearby utility area. There is also a ground-floor WC. Stairs take you up to the second floor where you will find a master bedroom with a king-size double bed and sea views, and an adjacent bathroom with a Victorian style bath on clawed feet, hand-held shower, separate walk-in shower and a WC. Heading up to the third floor there are two more lovely bedrooms. There’s a double bedroom with sea views and a king-size bed, as well as an attractive twin bedroom with 2ft 6ins beds for children.

Cars can be parked outside the property when space permits and in nearby lanes.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Cottage was very well equipped and clean. Lovely furniture and comfortable beds. Perhaps stairs could be mentioned as there are a lot. Good bus service close by.

This is a comfortable, well equipped property but there are a number of points to consider. Parking is an issue: It's difficult to leave the car close to the property. We were given keys which let us into the kitchen: Leaving the house from this point, one has to be very aware of traffic since there is a short blind path directly onto the road. Great location, lovely house, though it should probably come with a warning for those who cannot manage stairs. There are several scenic walks just outside the door which was great for us..
