This tastefully presented Isle of Wight-based holiday cottage promises a peaceful rural getaway for couples or families.

Situated on a 12-acre farm, this property is surrounded by fields of horses, cows and chickens together with a pond of ducks, moorhens and the occasional heron. Located on the edge of the small rural hamlet of Alverstone, the cottage sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with picturesque walking and cycling routes on the doorstep. Less than three miles away, Sandown boasts wonderful sandy beaches and lively entertainment together with a popular golf course. A little closer to home, the village of Newchurch is within walking distance and offers a good public house for enjoying a hearty meal out.

Recently converted from a barn, this cottage features charming exposed beams, old wooden floorboards and plenty of natural light throughout. The small yet well-equipped modern kitchen containing an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment and a dishwasher, everything you should need for preparing delicious meals, which can later be enjoyed at the modern table beside the window. A washing machine and tumble dryer are also provided in the cottage. The lounge is a light and airy room with a heated tiled floor, exposed beams, comfortable leather sofa and French doors opening onto the garden. There is a wood burner in the corner for those relaxing evenings in front of the Smart TV. Also, on the ground floor is a wet room with a shower and WC. Upstairs there are two attractive bedrooms, one spacious double with views across the fields and one compact twin, which is perfect for children. A single futon bed can be provided in the double bedroom to sleep an additional child at an additional cost (please request this at the point of booking). There is also a bright and modern bathroom with Velux-style window.

Outside, a large patio area with table and chairs overlooks the pretty paddocks and pond beyond. This is a pleasant space for enjoying BBQs while watching the wildlife on the water. There is also space to store bicycles.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Beautiful cottage, with such friendly hosts in a quiet location. I have never been to a better appointed holiday cottage, (they even provided Tupperware for your leftovers and plenty of logs for the log burner). This was our first family holiday with our 10month old daughter and four year old miniature labradoodle and it was simply amazing. The cottage is so well equipped and cosy. We loved everything about it especially it's close proximity to so many walks and the nature reserve. This is a very comfy cottage in a beautiful location. Very dog friendly and plenty of walkies locally & all over the island. It's inland so far from the madding crowds. The owners are helpful and will offer suggestions on where to go if you ask. The welcome pack included eggs from their chickens and delicious lemon drizzle cake. Great location with lots of wildlife and access to footpaths. Ideal for the dog. Accommodation was very well equipped with everything you could need. The owners were on site as it is a working farm and they were extremely helpful and made us very welcome. Will be coming back!

Wonderful cottage, great location for exploring the Isle of Wight, great area for farm, seafood and butchers shops and the Garlic Farm! Owners always around to offer advice on the area, dog friendly beaches within a few minutes drive and lovely walks straight from the cottage.
