This historic waterfront cottage is in the centre of Newport with excellent cycle links and the quayside nearby, it’s the perfect base for anyone looking to explore the island.

Dating back to 1776, this cottage was one of the first noted dwellings beside the River Medina. Today it makes an ideal base for a retreat, boasting river views and plenty of outdoor space for you to enjoy. A nearby cycle path follows the course of the river towards Cowes, interlinking with a network of routes to the likes of Godshill, Sandown and Shanklin. It has plenty of amenities nearby, including a range of restaurants, wine bars, and a cinema and arts centre all a short walk away, and a pub just 200 metres from the cottage.

The large sitting room offers the perfect place to put your feet up after a busy day exploring, with a wood burner to add to the cosy, country aesthetic. There’s also a TV/DVD for you to enjoy on your evenings in. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine, while the dining room has a large dining table, another TV/DVD, and a second wood burner. On the ground floor is a WC. From the lounge, stairs lead up to two charming bedrooms on the first floor - one double and one single - plus a spacious shower room with WC. A further flight of stairs leads up to an attractive attic-style room with three full-size single beds.

Step out into the delightful garden, which extends right down to the river. Outdoor furniture and a BBQ are provided, so you can enjoy dinner al fresco in the sun. There’s bicycle storage, plus off-road parking for two cars in the drive.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Brilliant riverside location. Easy walking distance to pub and town. Very central for exploring rest of Island. The cottage is very comfortable with lots of original features. We loved it. Thankyou.

The Isle of Wight is a wonderful place to holiday no matter what the accommodation is like. However this cottage was lovely and we loved the fact that the back of the cottage backed onto the river. This is our second visit to Riverside Cottage and I would happily book a return for next year too, the waterside garden space is the highlight, its a wonderful place to relax and watch the world go by. Its a very peaceful location and yet just a short walk to the main Newport high street.

Absolutely fabulous central location, close to town centre. Quaint cottage which has lots of character. Would comfortably sleep family although stairs are narrow if there are access problems. Comfortable and clean, with parking for one car.

A lovely peaceful cottage dating fron the 1700. It has been furnished to make it feel like a home rather than a holiday cottage. The only neighbour's are a boat yard and a few house boats and they didn't make any noise whatsoever. The garden is great for dogs big enough so they can run around. We will definitely be using this cottage again.

The Riverside Cottage is a good spot for exploring the IOW and when you want to be close to town. The surrounding of the cottage is rather industrial (boatyards) but you hardly notice this when around or in the cottage. The view on the river Medina from the back garden is nice. Had a great time Cottage was simply lovely Very dog friendly. Local pub bargemans arms had very welcoming friendly staff, food was super. Great cottage super location. Cant wait to visit again. Had problem with front door and owner came in 30 minutes to sort it out. Had fab holiday.

Lovely clean , well equipped and presented cottage. On an industrial site but very quiet and a good base to explore the Island. The local pub The Bargemans Rest, close to the Cottage had an extensive menu and a warm welcome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottage is nestled in what is now an industrial estate but that does not take away any of it's charm or peacefulness. Very conveniently situated and such a bonus to have easy off street parking.
