At a glance

  • Lovely detached property in a tucked away position offering sea views from many of the rooms
  • Spacious balcony and attractive garden, offering plenty of space to relax and play in privacy
  • Fantastic location above the pretty beach at Steephill Cove and just outside the seaside town of Ventnor
Property code: IC169

This property is located in one of the Isle of Wight’s most beautiful hidden gems: the pretty seaside hamlet of Steephill Cove, just over a mile outside the popular town of Ventnor. The nearby beach at Steephill Cove is accessible only on foot, and therefore offers a tranquil retreat from some of the island’s busier stretches of seafront. Steephill Cove is a laid-back kind of place, where instead of arcades and amusements, the beachfront offers a well-regarded restaurant and a seasonal crab shack. Above the cove, Ventnor Botanic Gardens is a wonderful place to spend the day walking amongst the plants and stopping for lunch at the cafe or the well-regarded restaurant which specialises in the local produce.

This spacious property has been designed in a reverse-level fashion in order to make the most of the spectacular views, meaning that the main living area can be found on the first floor. Taking the stairs from the hallway, guests will find the welcoming open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where a large picture window offers stunning sea views which can be enjoyed from the choice of sofas and chairs. It is hard to take your eyes off the view, but if you can manage to, there is a 50 inch Smart TV with a selection of Sky Q channels available providing entertainment, or alternatively why not while away the evening over drinks on the balcony? In the kitchen area, a large dining table is a great place for spending time together over leisurely meals which can be prepared with ease thanks to the excellent range of equipment which includes an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. A washing machine and tumble dyer are housed in the garage. One of the bedrooms is also on the upper floor: a double room with its own en-suite bathroom offering a shower-over-bath and WC. The remaining bedrooms can be found on the ground floor, two of which are twin rooms, one with a TV  and the other being an attractive double room. There is also a shower room on this floor offering a shower and a separate WC.

In addition to the sea-view balcony, the property also enjoys an attractive garden which is mainly set to lawn, for which garden furniture is provided, and which is accessed via external steps to the side of the property. There is parking for two cars on the driveway to the front of the house.

We are renewing our acquaintance with WL after a gap of four years. A lovely peaceful position. We had a lovely stay at Western Lines. Well equipped and clean, fabulous views out to the English Channel and a lovely garden to enjoy too. Just a short walk to the lovely Steephill Cove and also the Botanical gardens. Ventnor can be reached either by walking along the road or via the coast path.
