The pretty North Dorset village of Child Okeford is well serviced with amenities including pubs and a shop and is ideally placed for touring. There are many popular towns to explore nearby, such as Blandford Forum with its weekly market and range of shops, pubs and cafes, and riverside walks. Or take a trip to Shaftesbury, made famous by the 1970’s Hovis advert filmed on picturesque Gold Hill and offering stunning views of the Blackmore Vale. Heading further south will take you to the beautiful Jurassic coastline, which is home to many of Dorset’s best-loved attractions including Old Poole, Swanage, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Ringstead Bay, Abbotsbury, West Bay and Lyme Regis.

A long, shared driveway leads to the main entrance of this detached lodge-style property. Enter via a set of external steps and a covered veranda. When you step inside there is an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with the lounge area immediately inside the door. This comfortable space has a wood burner-effect electric fire, sofa bed (suitable for one adult, not available until June 2021) and a Smart TV. Leading on from here is the spacious kitchen/diner, which is equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer (below the counter), microwave and washing machine. Next, you will find a cosy single bedroom, which is adjacent to the inviting double bedroom. Just opposite is a stylish shower room with a shower and WC.

Heading outside from the rear door you will find a pretty, covered deck leading across a small lawn to an inviting patio with a table, chairs and a gas BBQ. An adjacent lawn area is fully enclosed. To the front of the property, there is a covered veranda with bench seating and off-road parking for two cars.

Great location for both countryside and coast. Set in beautiful and peaceful grounds, this accommodation is warm, comfortable and charming both inside and out with an excellent garden for the dogs if required. Very friendly hosts with great local knowledge.

Where to start, as soon as we were greeted u felt totally at home, Tracey was amazing from the start and showed us everything we needed to know. Ridgeway Log Cabin is a really beautiful, cosy and well-equiped holiday home in a rural but not too isolated location. In warmer weather there is an outside seating area. There are lots of good walks locally and the village, with its shop and visiting fish and chips van and pizza van, is only a 10 to 15 minute walk away. The owners have obviously put in a lot of thought and care into the needs of a holiday home and their guests. The cabin is of a high standard as a result. The owners, based on site, were welcoming and friendly - nothing was too much trouble for them.

We went back for our second holiday at the cabin and found to our delight that it was exactly as we remembered, beautifully clean, comfortable and in the an ideal spot. We and the dog enjoyed many lovely walks both up the hill and through the country side.

We had a wonderful stay at Ridgeway Lodge. The garden was fully enclosed so great for our Beagle and there were plenty of walks from the door. The Saxon Inn offered a nice selection of food and good ales. The owners were friendly and helpful. The Lodge was clean, spacious and well equipped, we hope to return in the future.

We had a fantastic week in the cabin. It is a beautiful base to travel from to Corfe, Durdle Door, Shaftesbury and lots of National Trust places.It is very comfortable and plenty of space and yet still feels very homely. The Lodge has a perfect location about a 10 minute stroll to the village centre. It was so tranquil. We did get out and about, but we could have stayed in and around the Lodge all week. We were visited by Peacocks, pheasants, squirrels and too many birds to name. The enclosed garden was ideal for our dog and the supplied BBQ. The pictures of the loRead moredge do not do it justice. The cabin is situated in its own plot away from main house . The outdoor area is a private lawn to the back of cabin and a good place to catch the sun and have a barbecue. The cabin was comfortable with all amenities catered for. Everything required was found inside ,lacking nothing. A superbly equipped lodge, extremely comfortable and a perfect location to explore the area. At the bottom of Hambleton Hill which is easily walkable past the Alpacas in the fields. Couldn't have asked for more with visits from Peacocks, Pheasants and Roe Deer - just lovely.

Stunning log cabin where everything has been thought about by the lovely owners who live just down from the cabin so are near if you have any problems but give you complete privacy. Spacious but at the same time cosy cabin, plenty of room, good size bathroom and a better equipped kitchen than ours at home!! Really lovely break, we will be back.

We have now stayed at the cottage 3 times. The hosts Tracy and Richard are wonderful and friendly. It is a treat for us to stay in the cabin as its cosy, well equipped and comfortable. We had a wonderful week in the cabin. It is cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. Most places of interest are within 45 minutes drive but it is also just a special place to chill out in and relax. We could not have been happier there and will definitely be back.

This was our second visit to Ridgeway Log Cabin. Its home from home for us, we love it! Relaxing, have everything you need, comfortable, warm, dog friendly, safe enclosed garden. Wonderful walks on your doorstep with Hambleton Hill and its wonderful views. Child Okeford is a lovely village too. We will definitely be returning again. Thank you

This is our 2nd visit this year and once again was fantastic. Tracy and Richard are more than just Hosts in such a short time they are very nice friends. There is nothing that you want for the Wi-Fi is perfect all the facilities are exactly what you want. Our second visit and the "cabin" as good as ever, hardly a cabin , more a home from home. Really comfortable and cosy, with all we needed. The truly enclosed garden totally safe for our little dog. The location is very peaceful with plenty of walks in glorious countryside, an excellent local shop, and pubs nearby. And a great fish and chip van!

Lovely place to stay and either explore or just switch off and relax Great local walks and equally great hosts who clearly want their guests to enjoy their time in the log cabin, which is well equipped and comfortable for both me and my four legged friend.

We had a fantastic stay. Owners were incredibly warm and welcoming and great sources of knowledge. Fantastic all round. The hosts were welcoming and friendly a credit to Tracy and Richard. Cabin had everything you could think of, even sun beds for outside. Excellent location for everything. Can't wait to return next time we visit Dorset.

Excellent. We were looking for somewhere that allowed a dog and was within easy reach of walking and cycling. The enclosed back garden was ideal for the dog to be safe and free to roam. The hosts obviously take care of the property and provide lots of information for their guests. Would definitely visit again.

We had a fantastic stay at the log cabin and we were all more than comfortable. Its a real home from home and the moment we were greeted by Tracy and shown around we knew we would be happy for the week. Great garden for ball games for our son and dog and a fab bbq. A fantastic folder full of info that informed us of local walks, the village pizza aRead morend fish and chip van and a local Indian takeaway which were all enjoyed greatly. Stunning location, fantastic hosts, spotlessly clean and very spacious. We had a fantastic time weather was brilliant so made good use of the BBQ and enclosed garden which the dog enjoyed very much. Highly recommend the place.

Perfect location for exploring Dorset, with lovely villages and market towns in close proximity. Loads of good pubs nearby for meals out. We had a wonderful week at the log cabin. The owners were really friendly and helpful. They provided excellent local information and gave us recommendations for walks and places to visit. The cabin truly had everything we needed, so much thought had gone into equipping it. Local people so nice, they had one of us enrolled in a penalty shootout the Read moreday after we arrived! The cabin was ideal for us. Very comfortable and full of useful items. We appreciated the USB charging points, WiFI and access to Netflix etc.
