Shanklin is one of the Isle of Wight’s best-known seaside resorts and it is home to a long sandy beach that extends north to neighbouring Sandown with its famous pier. Shanklin offers up shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés as well as several amusement features along the shore including crazy golf. Take a trip to Shanklin Chine, a cliff garden that winds up the hill at the south end of the beach. Plant and tree enthusiasts are in for a treat. The beach is a great place to build sandcastles, paddle, swim, and sunbathe when the sun is out. Shanklin has a railway station with connections up to the east coast to Ryde. Shanklin is also a travel hub for the public bus network, so you can reach all of the top visitor attractions and places of historical interest across the island. If you wish to leave your car at home or on the mainland, this is the ideal holiday home because you needn’t feel limited to exploring Shanklin and Sandown.

On arriving at the property, you will see that the ground floor mainly consists of a car garage. Ascending the stairs to the first floor you will pass through double doors into an airy living room that offers maximum comfort with its restful seating with a TV. There is also a balcony with table and chairs to sit out and enjoy the sea and downs views. Nearby is a delightful dining area with a table and seating for six diners accompanied by a Juliet balcony with more fantastic views. The superb fitted kitchen comes complete with everything you’ll need for a self-catering break including an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, coffee machine and a washing machine. There is also a WC on the first floor inside a spacious cloakroom. On the second floor, you will encounter the three bedrooms: two doubles, one with an en-suite shower room with WC and a Juliet balcony and the other with a balcony; the third bedroom with a single, and a trundle bed suitable for a sixth guest. The bathroom is also on this floor and contains a shower over bath, and WC.

Step outside the house on the first floor and you will find a lovely enclosed terrace with garden furniture. Off-road parking is available for two cars (one on the driveway and one in the garage).

We really cannot fault Sandcastles. The layout worked really well for us, the decor was lovely, the rooms were all a good size and everything that is needed for our stay (and more) was provided. The location was excellent, very central but also quiet, and with a lovely view out to sea. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the Isle ofRead more Wight. Hide

This is a fabulous property in an excellent, central location. A 5 min stroll to the lift to the beach (or you can walk down in around 20 mins) and a 5 min stroll in the other direction to the main high street with all the shops, restaurants and pubs. The house is in a perfect location between the cliff and town, parking etc Lovely well looked after property. From front door there are a flight of stairs up to the main floor. We really enjoyed the week and weather couldn't have been any better.

The house is in a fantastic location and only a short walk into town or down to the beach. Well equipped, clean and comfortable with private parking right outside. We will definitely be back!

Really good house all round. Location perfect with short walk to the sea, High Street/Regent Street & also the old village, parking for 2 cars, quality of almost everything better than most holiday rentals, perfectly clean (& a very helpful & friendly cleaner, Tracy, who rang me before arrival so I had contact details if needed, nice touch) so all Read morein all a lovely week. We very much enjoyed our stay, Sandcastles is well located to the beach and Shanklin Chine and the high street, immaculately clean and generously equipped even with beach toys in the garage! We visited the Needles, Blankgang Chine, days on the various beaches and The whole family loved it and would certainly return.
