Situated in the pretty village of Shorwell, this unique Grade II listed cottage offers an old-world holiday retreat. Shorwell, itself, is a beautiful unspoilt village with a range of amenities including a traditional country pub and a small shop. It is a great location for those who wish to escape for a week, with a wide range of wonderful walks to enjoy and within easy reach of beaches. The town of Newport which is only 7 miles away, is often considered the capital of the island. On arrival, the large wooden door opens into a comfortable lounge, complete with exposed beams, roaring woodburner, muted lighting and a cosy sofa - along with a TV and DVD. After a day of exploring the island, this is a great place to retreat to. There is also a small dining area in the lounge, for enjoying breakfast or a light lunch. The kitchen continues with the country feel and is equipped with electric oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine. There is a separate dining room where a more formal meal can take place. The bathroom with shower over the bath and WC can also be found on the ground floor. Heading up the open stairs, guests will find the bedrooms. The first bedroom is a four-poster room with a queen sized bed. The second room is a twin bedroom with distinctive features including a chest and grandfather clock.

Moving outside, there is an enclosed private garden to relax in with garden furniture. Surrounded by hedges and mature trees, this is an enjoyable place for lazy summer evenings. There is off-road parking for 1 car.

Cosy, rustic and packed full of character. Not for those who want modern minimalism, but if you are looking to escape Wifi, and the hustle bustle of busy life, then this is for you. We were slightly concerned when reading reviews that the cottage might be a little dirty, but when we arrived it was absolutely spotless! We will be back.

Not the cleanest of cottages we have stayed at. Some crockery was chipped and cracked. Some cutlery had food stuck to it. The shower head needs replacing. Beds were comfortable. Location is good.

It is a lovely old cottage, (possibly 1700's?) that is need of some TLC but in a really rural setting. The garden is not overlooked as it has trees an bushes around the perimeter. It has everything you need for your holiday.
