Tucked away from the main area of the quay only a few paces from Back Beach, one of Polruan's hidden secrets. A romantic hideaway or a bolt hole to escape a busy life.

Sitting on Cornwall's pretty south coast line with its clear seas, lush landscape and hidden coves you will find the tranquil village of Polruan where you can wonder the pretty streets with village shop, 2 village pubs and cafe offering traditional Cornish fayre. You are well placed for walking the many coastal paths right on the door step. The cottage is paces from the passenger ferry over to Fowey with its independent shops, restaurants and pubs dotted along the streets. While visiting Fowey, St Catherine's Castle and Readymoney Cove is a must see attraction. Slightly further afield to the east are the fishing villages of Looe and Polperro and to the west you will find Eden Project, the long sandy beach at Carlyon Bay and the historic harbour of Charlestown with its tall ships, pebbled beach and pubs.

Enter through the front door into a useful porch area, which leads through to the ground floor lounge/ snug area, with cosy arm chair and local 1800s farmhouse settle and long case clock for seating. Sit and relax in front of the wood burner after a busy day sightseeing. From the lounge is the kitchen/diner where you can create and enjoy a meal for two. The kitchen area has an electric double oven and hob, slim line dishwasher, microwave, fridge and washer/dryer. Head up the cottage style staircase to the first floor you will find a cosy second lounge with original feature fireplace, TV, window seating and views of the estuary and over to Fowey, it is the perfect place to relax and watch the world go by. On this floor you will also find the newly refurbished bathroom with shower over the P- shaped bath and WC. A steep set of stairs leads you up to the second floor, where the double bedroom can be found, you can enjoy the enchanting views over the river without leaving the cottage.

There is no outside space at the property, however, the cottage is within paces from the beach and village quay. The property does not have any parking but there are nearby car parks where weekly tickets can be purchased.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

  • 1 bedroom – double
  • 1 bathroom
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge
  • Wood burner on ground floor
  • Electric and night storage heating included
  • Bed linen and towels included
  • Parking available in nearby car parks, charges apply
  • Wi-Fi included
  • 2 dogs welcome
  • Beach, pub and shop within walking distance
  • TV in first floor lounge
  • Please note that the kitchen area has low ceilings, which reduces head height in this area only
  • There are steep cottage style stairs up to the second and third floor.
  • Due to the steeps stairs the property is not suitable for infants or children
  • Polruan is a quaint little village situated on a very steep hill, so access to some parts of the village can be challenging.
  • Many of the amenities, ferries and cottages in Polruan are accessed via steps/ slopes some of which can be steep. Please contact us if you have specific requirements.
  • There are many small winding streets in and around Polruan that are not suitable for cars, therefore many properties in Polruan do not have private parking. However, there is a large pay and display carpark at the top of the village. A small amount of parking can be found on the village quay.

Absolutely perfect location. Window seat in the lounge was my favorite part! I could have sat there forever. Bed was the comfiest bed I had ever slept in. My wife and I were extremely disappointed by the overall standard of the cottage but particularly the bathroom. The shower head over the bath was flimsy and unstable with no adjustment possible. The water jet was so weak you had to lean against the wall to get wet. There was black mould on several areas of the sealant around the shower screen. The Read morenon-slip mat on the floor of the bath was filthy. A number of the windows did not close properly. The overall standard of the accommodation was well Hide

Beautiful cottage only a few steps away from the harbour front water taxi to Fowey and around the corner from two pubs. We had a lovely stay with our dog which included a brilliant walk to Bodinnick, ferry across to Fowey and then ferry back to Polruan. Would highly recommend.

Fairview Cottage couldn't be in a better position. On the same level as the Quay nestling among the two village pubs and shops with a view across the Fowey estuary, what more could you ask for? We had a truly wonderful stay at the cottage. Its position on the quay and the views from the lounge and bedroom windows far exceeded our expectations.
