Hawkshead village is a just a short drive away and offers a great selection of shops and places to eat out or guests can take the nearby ferry across Lake Windermere to Bowness.

The stable door leads into the useful utility room, great for walking gear and cleaning off muddy paws, here there is also a washing machine, tumble dryer and an additional freezer. There is also a separate WC found off this room. From here you enter the very well-equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher with a lovely view over the lake and oak table for sharing meals together. From this room you pass through the conservatory, overlooking the lake and leading into the spacious lounge. Cottage is very spacious and has everything you could need. It is in a remote area so definitely need a car to go anywhere,. We walked one night to the local pub/restaurant, and didnt realise coming back in the dark would be so hazardous, the lane has no lights, so if on foot you must take a torch with you. Lovely cottage with comfortable beds. Warm even through storm Dennis! Well appointed kitchen. Good location for walkers. 5 of us stayed for 4 nights in February and had a wonderful rural break. Nearest shop is in Hawkshead - just over an hour on foot, 10 minutes by car. In high season only there's a local bus.

A wonderful cottage with all the home from home comforts you could possibly need. There were six adults (it is so hard to find somewhere that offers three double bedrooms) and I can honestly say we had plenty of room without ever feeling crowded whatsoever. The views were spectacular and the location was just perfect with a 20 minute walk to the cuRead moreckoo brow Inn which offers great food, a good selection of ales, gin and cocktails and the staff are really friendly. We had a great time at this property, 4 adults 2 dogs, very well equipped and comfortable . Local pub not realistically walkable after dark, so if you have to drive you might as well go further afield. Great access to the ferry , which is 5 in the car to get straight over to Bowness/ Windermere . This has been a perfect house for my three daughters and I. Lovely spacious rooms with lovely distant views of the lake. Plenty of parking space and easy to walk down to the Lakeside along the country lane. As a wheelchair user Cunsey is an excellent place.
