Sympathetically renovated in 2018, this charming character cottage sits alongside the owner’s home, but privacy is assured. Cleverly combining contemporary style with original features, the cottage is set in a picture postcard Wiltshire Village surrounded by verdant countryside, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is ideally situated for days spent exploring the many walking and cycling routes nearby. Visit the bustling market town of Marlborough with its wide high street where you will find a great selection of amenities and individual shops. To the southwest is the Georgian city of Bath, famed for its stunning architecture and numerous historic sites, including the Abbey and Roman Baths. Or explore the iconic Stonehenge, Silbury Hill and Avebury, well worth a visit.

A shingle path leads from the parking area through the garden to the private entrance of this attached property. Just inside the door is a stunning open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which has an inglenook fireplace with wood burner and has been furnished with care, ensuring your comforts are considered. The stylish kitchen area is well-equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave,fridge, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a comfortable dining space adjacent, perfect for cosy meals for two. Take time to relax in the lounge area, where there is an inviting sofa for curling up and watching a film on the Smart TV, which also has a Sky Sports and Movies package. When the day is done, head up the staircase to the beautiful double bedroom that overlooks the garden. Just next door is a stylish bathroom with rainfall shower over bath, and WC.

Heading outside you will find a pretty shingle terrace with garden furniture, just perfect for al fresco dining or a spot of star gazing. Off-road parking for two cars is available to the front of the cottage.

What a fantastic place Penny Cottage is! Location is idyllic in the beautiful village of Lockeridge close to stunning Marlborough. Lots of walks in the area. The cottage is so well thought out with everything you need in every room. Beautifully decorated inside with a lovely garden at the front. The owners Tay & Paul together with their dog Archie Read morewere terrific hosts. The Oddfellows Arms in Manton serve fabulous food and the Whod a Thought it pub across the road from the cottage worth a visit. Hide

On our arrival we had a warm welcome from Paul and Tay. Penny Cottage had everything we needed for our four nights away with our spaniel, Buddy. The weather was far too hot to go anywhere in the day, but we were up early for a walk in the nearby woods and late evening a walk to the river. Buddy made great friends with their Labrador. The cottage waRead mores more than comfortable to relax in the day when it was far too hot to sit in the lovely garden. Hopefully we will be back soon and explore the area. Hide

The cottage had everything we needed. It is in an ideal location for some nice walks and we recommend the pub across the road. The owners Tay and Paul are lovely and friendly, thank you for a wonderful stay.

Really well appointed cottage for two. Quiet but easily reachable location in a small village close to Marlborough. The local pub that is literally just across the road had brilliant real ale (3 of) and excellent reasonably priced food. The location is good, we used it as a base to explore most of Wiltshire. Roads are quiet. Owners live next door aRead morend they are a really helpful, friendly, couple without being too overbearing. We look forward to a return visit. Hide

A well equipped lovely cottage in a pretty village with the added bonus of a good pub with a garden close by. There are several good walks around the area. It is also well placed for visits to Avebury, Lacock Abbey, Marlborough and Devizes The owners were very welcoming.

A beautifully decorated, extremely well-equipped cottage: everything you could need downstairs, plus a comfy bed and lovely bathroom on the first floor, and parking. Compact, but perfectly fine for two people, it even has a log burner, complete with fuel etc, but unfortunately for us, although the weather was largely grim during our stay, it wasnt Read morecold enough to use. Marlborough is in easy reach, and Devizes and the stones and Manor House at Avebury. Good pub almost opposite with great food. Hide

The cottage is beautifully appointed. Spotlessly clean. A very cosyplace on chilly days. The hosts are very welcoming and no thing is too much trouble.The bed is the most comfortable ive ever slept in away from home. The village has a pub for relaxed eating. Perfectly situated for long walks in ancient woods and The Ridgeway. Avebury is just down tRead morehe road. Marlborough and Devizes are both interesting towns to explore. A cosy, comfortable cottage, beautifully fitted out with all the facilities we needed and a wonderful wood burning stove! Good location close to Marlborough and Swindon. Picturesque location for walks and exploring the history of the area. Superb cottage furnished to the highest standards. Great location, handy for exploring Wiltshire by car and on foot with great walking in all directions. Close to an excellent local pub for meals if you fancy a night off from own catering. Owners are super friendly and helpful with local advice and recommendations.

Absolutely beautiful charming cottage! Tay and Paul made our stay very comfortable and went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. Very clean and cosy and cannot fault a single thing. Penny Cottage is located in a pretty village and is central for walking, historic sites and the Kennett and Avon canal. It is set well back from the road with a small gravelled outdoor space.

A cosy and comfortable cottage, in a good location for walks in woods or on the downs. The owner is very considerate and helpful. We suggested a microwave would be a useful additional facility and he went and bought one and there it was the next day.
