Thoughtfully converted former barn, offering spacious and well-maintained accommodation for five guests, located in a quiet farmland location in the North Yorkshire countryside.

This property is located on the outskirts of the village of Huby which sits in the Yorkshire countryside between Ilkley and Harrogate.  Harrogate can be found just 6 miles away and is a lovely day out with it's famous Turkish baths, RHS Harlow Carr Gardens and Bettys Tearoom. There is plenty more to see and do in the area, including Harewood House, Bolton Abbey, Brimham Rocks and Ripley Castle. Explore the nearby market towns of Ilkley and Skipton or venture further afield to the beautiful City of York or take a trip to the coast.

This single-storey  ground floor property is a delightful place to enjoy a relaxing break, and the owners sense of style and eye for detail is evident as soon as guests arrive. The main living area is the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a charming room with a vaulted beamed ceiling, a feature stone wall, and plenty of space for guests to eat, cook, watch the TV/DVD on the leather sofas, or simply sit back with one of the books from the owners collection. The kitchen has a contemporary light and airy feel to it and offers an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher. The freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer, meanwhile, can be found in the external laundry room. The first of the propertys two bedrooms is a spacious king-size room which has a sofa seating area and views to the front of the property from the tall floor-to-ceiling window. The second bedroom is just as generously sized and is presented as a family room, offering a 46” double bed alongside a single, making it ideal for a couple with a young child. The family bathroom has been finished to a high standard and is fully-tiled offering a bath, separate shower, and WC.

Outside, the property enjoys a patio garden for which patio furniture can be provided for those who would like to enjoy al fresco dining. There is off-road parking provided for two cars.

We found everything to be as was advertised. Newby Farm Cottage is a very tastefully converted and equipped barn. The location is peaceful and perfect for visiting places like Harrogate, York, Skipton, Ilkley, Knareborough, Fountain's Abbey and many other interesting locations. Only two points that could make the difference between a 4 and 5 star rRead moreating is that the Internet signal is a bit intermittent and phoning was only possible on a mobile phone outside the cottage. Although it was not a problem for us, it could be for someone else renting the cottage. The second point is more of a suggestion than a criticism; the sink in the kitchen was a butler's-type sink and needed a lot of water to have enough to wash anything in. A washing up bowl would have provided a more economical use of water. But I hasten to add there is a dishwasher and washing machine available for a lot of laundry or washing up. We had a problem with Sky TV while we were there and this was very swiftly and competently dealt with by the owners. Praise more than due to them for that. We forgot to sign and add our comments to the Visitors Book but would have said exactly what I have written above, if we had remembered to do so. We would thoroughly recommend Newby Farm Cottage to anyone who enjoys tasteful homely comfort, peaceful countryside, walking and interesting places to visit. Hide

Great house in a handy location between the Dales and Leeds. Good looking, spacious accommodation in a very peaceful lane.

Lovely spacious converted barn in a tranquil location. Very convenient for Harrogate. The description said there was a pub approximately a mile away, it was considerably more than this, but ok if you want a long walk.
