The owners of this property have clearly spent a lot of time and love creating this attractive holiday cottage. On arrival, guests may choose first to simply put their feet up in the lounge, a welcoming room with a flagstone floor, warming wood burner, two inviting sofas, a pretty window seat, and a TV/DVD. This room is the ideal space to enjoy spending time together in the evenings after a day of sightseeing in the local area. In winter light the wood burner to cast a cosy glow over the room, or in summer throw open the patio doors which open onto the south-facing patio. The flagstones continue through to the kitchen/diner, a lovely room which has maintained the rustic feel of the original barn, whilst providing all the equipment that the modern cook will need to prepare all their favourite dishes, including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. The washing machine and tumble dryer can be found housed separately in the ground-floor cloakroom which also has a WC. The property's three bedrooms are located upstairs on the first floor, all of which have attractive beamed ceilings. The first of these is a sanctuary-like king-size master bedroom, to which a single bed can be added on request at an additional charge. The second bedroom is another king-size room, however this one can be made up as a twin room on request. The third bedroom is a single room which makes a wonderful childs hideaway, as it has a bespoke child's size cabin bed which has been lovingly crafted from reclaimed wood. The bathroom can also be found on the first floor and offers a shower-over-bath and WC.

Outside, the property benefits from a private patio with garden furniture, which gives guests an ideal spot to sit out and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. BBQs are allowed, but we do ask guests to bring their own. Guests also have access to four acres of grassed grounds, and may also like to meet the resident hens, ducks, and sheep. The owners are also happy for guests to view the fascinating beehives which produce the farms own honey. There is off-road parking available for two cars.

We stayed for a week over the the Easter period in April '19 and the hosts & accommodation were fantastic. Located in the idyllic countryside, this property provided a very relaxing place to enjoy Harrogate and the surrounding areas. Very accessible, not far from the main road with an easy journey into Harrogate (approx. 15 mins). My husband & I atRead moretended a wedding at Rudding Park during our stay and the local taxi companies were reliable and very cost effective. Hide

The accommodation was spotlessly clean and better equipped than our own home in many respects! Our children loved seeing the sheep, ducks and chickens in the field next-door.The owners could not have been more helpful and we very much hope to visit again one day.

After a long drive from the Isle of Wight, our spacious yet cosy, extremely clean Old Barn at Newby had all the creature comforts (and more) for us and our two four-legged friends. Tucked away along a country lane, the setting was peaceful and offered an escape from reality, yet spawned Otley, Leeds, York and Harrogate a short drive away in differiRead moreng directions . Other attractions were listed in a comprehensive Guest Information Pack, along with operating instructions for the various mod-cons which adorned the quaint, well-equipped kitchen. Our friendly and obliging host and hostess (Linda and Martin) had left a welcome pack of fresh eggs, yummy honey and milk to help us settle in, which we supplemented following a supermarket run, only ten minutes away. With the exception of the kitchen scissors which had gone 'walkabout', the barn was so well equipped that Mary Berry would have been at home here! We visited in June and aim to return in the other seasons of the year when the Old Barn and its surroundings will, we are sure, take on a different persona - all equally resplendent and welcoming Hide
