Ideally located close to some of North Devon’s finest beaches, Saunton and Croyde are popular with surfers and bathers alike. The regional towns of Barnstaple and South Molton are nearby with popular pannier markets. Walkers and cyclists can enjoy the Tarka Trail and walk through the surrounding landscape, stunning in any season. In the height of summer, a small eco-campsite pops up in one of the fields and cream teas are served from the summer house. A short car journey to the village of Umberleigh where the local pub nestles, and all are welcome, you will also find the community shop here which sells a range of produce. Other attractions include RHS Rosemoor Gardens, Dartington Crystal, Lets Go Super Bowl, Quince Honey Farm and The Milky Way Adventure Park.

As you enter this stylish and contemporary barn conversion the entrance hallway is the perfect place to wipe your paws and leave your walking boots behind you. Following on through the property you will enter the open-plan lounge/diner. In the lounge relax on the large comfy sofas, watch a film on the TV/DVD with Amazon Firestick, or enjoy a game or two on the Wii console which is on offer at this delightful retreat. If you decide to stay in and cook, there is a well-equipped kitchen area with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and Nespresso coffee machine and you don't even need to do the dishes as there is a dishwasher to do the work for you. After a long day head upstairs to rest your head. Here you will find three bedrooms and the bathroom. Bedroom one is spacious and offers a double bed and boasts countryside views from the comfort of your bed. Bedroom two and three are again of a good size and offer single beds. The bathroom consists of a shower over bath and WC.

Heading outside, you will find the enclosed shared garden area that offers seating and a BBQ area. It's a nice cottage, although the downstairs space was a little small for us. The people were lovely but we did have a fly infestation so spent all week killing flies. The dog garden is nice but the house doesn't open on to it, so you can't just open the door and let the dog out!

Very remote location so a car is a necessity but ideal if you want to get away from it all. Not very dog friendly as you cannot walk your dogs when dark.

The cottage was amazing, had absolutely everything you could ask for. There was a lovely secure dog area which we had unlimited access to. The hot tub was perfect. A car is a must as you need to drive to get to any locations which makes this cottage perfectly peaceful and quiet but is only half an hour from everything you could wish for from numeroRead moreus beaches to Dartmoor national park, to lots of activities such as clay pot making, walks and markets. We'll definitely return, perfect base to stay. Hide
