This luxurious property is set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent and is surrounded by stunning wooded hills and cliffs. Within walking distance there is an abundance of attractions such as Gulliver's Kingdom, the Peak District Mining Museum, aquarium and arcades. Visitors can take a ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car and take in the incredible views in style, whilst the more active are catered for with plentiful walking around the Derwent Valley. Matlock Bath also offers a selection of quality pubs, shops and coffee shops.

Matlock Bath lies just a short drive from the historic village of Cromford, famous for its connections with Sir Richard Arkwright and the birthplace of the industrial revolution. The mills and canal are a world heritage site. The splendid Chatsworth House is close by, as well as rock climbing and cycling opportunities at Carsington Water and the High Peak, Monsal and Tissington Cycle Trails.

After heading inside through the stone porch and double doors into the unique detached Georgian Grade ll listed former hotel you’ll be in the entrance hall. With its original parquet flooring and ornate cast iron radiator you’ll get the sense of elegance you would expect from this type of property, which has been wonderfully renovated to retain its original features, but also has a contemporary feel with its designer decor.

Bluetooth/USB/DAB/CD music system. The kitchen island is a great social space where everyone can congregate. Opposite the kitchen you can celebrate that special occasion in the impressive dining room (Byron Room) with ample seating for all guests and stunning views of Riber Castle, the limestone cliffs, the River Derwent and down to the village below. The property has had numerous distinguished people cross its threshold, including Lord Byron, who was so moved by his visit to The Temple that he was inspired to etch a poem on the dining room window. Queen Victoria visited when a young princess and signed the same pane. Next to this room is the cosy snug with comfy seating and a Smart TV/DVD. Adjoining the kitchen is the exquisite lounge bar with dishwasher, bottle fridge and under counter sink ideal for the perfect stay. Linking into this room is the stunning main lounge with seating for everyone and with a wall of glass windows providing panoramic views of the cliffs and river below and really give this room the Wow factor! This room through patio doors leads onto the garden area with 2 hot tubs, trampoline and garden furniture for all guests.

Moving into the north wing you’ll find bedrooms 1-4 with stunning features throughout. Bedrooms 1 and 2 both have king-size zip-and-link beds, bedroom 3 has a super-king-size bed and bedroom 4 is a king-size. All four bedrooms have TVs and luxury en-suite shower rooms with massage jet showers and WC.

Take in the delightful views of the two acres of sandstone walled garden through the original Venetian window as you make your way up the bespoke Georgian staircase to the second floor.

Here you will be met with even more character with impressive ornate radiators and fireplaces. On the landing is a utility room with two commercial tumble dryers and plenty of space to hang your clothes.

To the second-floor north wing you’ll find charming bedrooms 5-9, all with stunning views and oozing character. These consist of bedroom 5 that has a king size bed. Bedroom 6 with a super-king-size size zip-and-link bed, bedroom 7 has a king-size zip-and-link, bedroom 8 has a superking size zip link bed and bedroom 9 has a king-size bed and beautiful original fireplace. To the second-floor south wing you’ll find bedrooms 10-15, again with fantastic views and original features. Bedroom 10 has a super-king-size zip-and-link bed, this has a luxury en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC. This outstanding property is great for large groups looking for heaps of space and freedom to do their own thing, before exploring the Peak District together.

The front of the historic property is approached through a stone patio, from where you will find a border shrub garden with seating area, superbly located in two acres of hillside with delightful views at all angles. Heading to the main garden spend lazy afternoons relaxing by the two hot tubs and taking in the fantastic views. Perfectly suited to enjoy al fresco dining with the two charcoal BBQ’s on warm summer nights. There are multiple seating areas to choose from so take your pick where you’d like your morning cup of tea. There is off-road parking for up to 20 cars in the car parking area opposite and in the adjoining large car park to the side, there is roadside parking is also available, subject to availability.

The Temple was a fabulous place for a birthday celebration with 30 family & friends. Everyone had their own room and ensuite and the communal spaces were great - big enough for us all to get together. Wonderful house in a prominent gorgeous location. There were a few minor issues with the hot tub, karaoke machine, microwave oven and water temperature. But on the whole the house met our needs, was in a stunning location and everyone (29 of us) enjoyed our stay. Lots of space so it didn't feel cramped at all.

This property is in a fantastic location and very handy for the Peak District. The property itself is lovely, the lounge and garden have fabulous views and the kitchen is well equipped. We were a large family group of 28, aged from 2 weeks to 90 years. The property and facilities were amazing for our weekend stay. We had a great Christmas week, with twenty-seven of us the house worked perfectly. The place was spotlessly clean, with great ensuite bedrooms and communal areas. The two hot tubs were a real bonus. Would stay again and not hesitate to recommend it.

An amazing property in a great location. We were a group of 34 including adults, teens and younger kids. However as others have said the whole house is looking really worn and tired with repairs needed, two toilets in the rooms were literally falling off the walls, and another constantly running water making it impossible to flush.
