Simply delightful cottage for romantic breaks or family holidays, with walks galore and country pubs to visit along the way, and stunning scenery, towns and attractions nearby waiting to be explored.

A delightfully converted barn on a working farm with a country pub and the Brecon and Monmouth Canal very close at hand, and Goytre Wharf making for a great morning stroll. Well located to explore the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean in one direction and the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons in the other. Just a short drive from the Severn Bridge, with easy access to Cardiff, Monmouth, Usk and Abergavenny, perfect for shows and food festivals throughout the year. The market town of Crickhowell is also just 25 minutes away, crowned the winner of the UK's best high street 2018. A short 45 minute drive will lead you to the majestic Pen y Fan. A beautiful mountain with breath-taking views. In the Welsh borderlands you will find Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Castle and The Roman Fortress in Caerleon, all within easy reach. Big Pit is also well worth a trip with children, a chance to head underground in a real mine.

Enter this cottage, newly refurbished in 2019, into a hallway with the delightful lounge to your right. This welcoming room has comfortable sofas framing the warming wood burner with a basket of logs ready for your arrival, there is also a TV/DVD and a bookcase with plenty of books and board games to keep everyone entertained. From the hallway, head through to the kitchen/diner, which is spacious and well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Sit, chat and plan your day at the inviting kitchen table. Upstairs on the first floor there are two characterful bedrooms, with exposed beams, both with en-suites. The master bedroom is a king-size and has fine rural views and an en-suite shower room and WC. The second bedroom has a twin zip-and-link bed (which can be made up as a king-size on request), this also benefits from an en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC, making this a super retreat for families and couples alike.

Outside there is off-road parking for two cars. Lots of lovely, sunny spots around the grounds to enjoy with your own table and chairs provided, BBQ and acres of fields that you are very welcome to explore. There is an exclusive lawn area for guests just across the courtyard, an ideal space for children to play or for everyone to enjoy a picnic.

Cooke's Cottage is a comfortable, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location - conveniently accessed from the M4 and for access to the beauty spots of the Brecon Beacons. I stayed at a time when Covid-19 precautions were in place - the cottage felt a safe and comfortable retreat. Lovely cottage with beautiful garden. In a lovely quiet area. Everything we needed was there. Nice walks around the area. Two local pubs within walking distance. Recommend the horseshoe inn for an evening meal. Lots of places nearby to visit. Would definitely go and stay here again .

The cottage was lovely, with a spacious kitchen. Having two bathrooms was really good for us, having to adult daughters. We were there the week commencing 7th August when the weather was great, so spent a lot of time sitting outside enjoying the quiet of the countryside.The owners were very friendly and helpful.

A very cosy cottage, well furnished with friendly hosts and delicious cake on arrival. A short walk to the local pub, good walks in the area and close to the lovely town of Abergavenny. We had a very enjoyable stay in this cosy cottage. The owners and family were very friendly. The wood burner was a welcome bonus when we returned from our days out. We had a plentiful supply of logs.The area around the Brecon Beacons is spectacular. As we belong to the National Trust we found at least 3 places to visit in the area too. We had the most wonderful 4 night break at Cookes Cottage. Everything was spot on and exactly what we wanted. Lovely cottage, very well appointed and very quiet. Nice having an en-suite in both bedrooms. Great wood-burning stove, which lit first time and gave out lots of heat. Very convenient for Abergavenny and lots of walks in the immediate area. Owners friendly and helpful.

We stayed for a week and everything was great. James and Sarah the owners could not have been more helpful. The location is perfect and the local pubs are really good. The Horseshoes has great food and friendly staff and the Starr inn is perfect for a drink and a chat. We will be back.

We had a lovely stay at cookes cottage. We were greeted with a beautiful home made cake and the kitchen was stocked with the essentials. The cottage itself is in a beutiful rural setting on a farm on a quiet county lane. It was clean and well presented, with lots of local information in the cottages folder. We loved our stay at Cooke Cottage. Lovely cake on arrival, lots of space and seating, exceptionally clean, lots of lovely touches eg blankets on the sofas, DVDs. Lots to do in the area. Owners very friendly and had good tips for outings. Wed definitely come again.

This cottage is utterly charming in a magically rural setting. Walks from your doorstep up the Brecon Beacons, pubs just a stroll away, and the more gastro restaurants (The Hardwick and The Walnut Tree) a short drive away.
