This stylish property blends beautifully within the Wye valley’s countryside, situated within the grounds of the owner’s home enjoying views across the countryside creating the perfect bolt hole for couples looking to get away.

Nestled into the Wye Valley landscape enjoying views across the open countryside though just a short walk from the traditional village of both St Briavels, a vibrant village steeped in history with a castle and village inn, ideal for seasoned walkers with access to the Offa’s Dyke footpath and the Wye Valley Walk taking in stunning scenery and market towns and villages along the way. For enthusiastic cyclists a network of cycle paths that will guide you through the Forest of Dean. Take in the magic of Puzzle Wood and the history of the Clearwell caves. The Views from Symonds Yat rock are also not to be missed.

Leave your walking boots by the front door and step inside where you will receive a warm welcome, the entrance hall offers access to the lounge/diner, a light and spacious room with oak framed floor to ceiling windows that enjoy the morning sun and enhance the local artwork that decorates the wall space. A table and chairs for dining is set within the window space where you can enjoy a breakfast over looking the gardens, and for cosy evenings in there are comfortable armchairs and a sofa where you can lose yourself in a good movie on the TV or take your pick of good reads that are also available within the lounge. The kitchen is accessed off the lounge, a well-equipped space with electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer. So, when the sun goes down and the day is done you will find a double bedroom on the ground floor, there is also a shower room with shower, WC and washing machine on this floor.

Outside there is a patio area to the side of the cottage with table and chairs just perfect for enjoying the sunshine, you are also free to take a stroll through the owners’ grounds. There is off-road parking for two cars and bicycle storage.

If you are looking for a peaceful tranquil get away, The Retreat is the perfect place to go. The house is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, and has a very large beautiful garden with many birds to entertain you as well. Clean, light, bright and spacious, with outdoor decking and views of a garden full of wildlife. Lots of games, books, maps and jigsaws. Great walking in the Wye valley, Forest of Dean and Black Mountains.

Avoid the George Inn for meals, drinks are ok but the food is rubbish. Village is 10 mins away & has virtually nothing there.

The cottage is super, highly recommended. It has everything you need and more! Surrounded by beautiful countryside The Retreat is certainly peaceful and quiet - a fantastic space to get away from it all and relax. The property is close to the Forest of Dean, with wonderful walks and great cycling routes.

A beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. The view of the garden from the dining table is just delightful. The cottage is extremely comfortable and immaculate. A really good spot for walking and taking in local history as well. The 'Retreat at Greenfields' was exactly that - an excellent retreat for our first ever visit to the FoD/Wye Valley. With the benefit of excellent weather the Retreat proved to be a fantastic base for our holiday with lots of walking and the joy of a steam train ride all fairly close by.
