Retaining much original charm, this is the perfect base for those who love exploring the countryside, walkers and cyclists will find plenty of trails to follow or enjoy stargazing on a clear night.

An abundance of activities and days out can be found at nearby Raby Castle and Beamish Open Air Museum. There are also numerous routes for hikers and peaceful strollers to enjoy in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Why not enjoy a luxurious relaxing spa treatment at Slaley Hall or play a round of golf at their prestigious 18 hole golf course. The Cathedral City of Durham is slightly further afield but is worth a visit. You can also take trips to Hadrian's Wall and High Force Waterfall.
