A lovingly converted barn set in the open countryside of Yorkshire, boasting uninterrupted views and elegant interiors, sitting within driving distance of the Medieval town of York and all its attractions.

Tucked away at the edge of the Howardian Hills, this cottage sits just 2 miles from the village of Stillington where you'll find three cosy country pubs in addition to a wonderful village shop and a welcoming atmosphere. Here, you're perfectly positioned to discover some of the best of the North Yorkshire countryside. From this scenic location, you'll have access to lush pastures and woodlands for endless exploration each and every day. The walled city of York sits just 13 miles away, so take a day trip to this medieval city to check out the eateries, shops and pubs, along with the iconic gothic-style York Minster cathedral and the Jorvik Viking Centre.

Dating back to the early 19th century, this Grade II listed building has been transformed from farmyard building into a luxurious holiday home, retaining much of its original character throughout. Step inside and be welcomed by a gorgeous open-plan living space, home to the lounge, kitchen and dining area. The lounge area comes complete with a wood burner so you can cosy up in front of the TV during the chillier months. The bright and attractive kitchen is equipped with all the amenities you'll need to prepare homecooked food before sitting down at the farmhouse dining table, perfect for two. Make your way into the eaves of the barn to be greeted by a generous bedroom, complete with plush soft furnishings that add a true sense of luxury. French doors open out onto a Juliet balcony so you can enjoy a bird's eye view of your enviable surroundings. Next door, the bathroom is home to a beautiful free-standing bath so you can lose yourself in the bubbles after a long day of sightseeing.

Outside, you'll find a shelter stone terrace boasting outdoor furniture, so you can sit outside and drink in your picture-postcard surroundings. The grounds also have a tennis court, available to use by arrangement so you can lose yourself in hours of competitive fun. What's more, you are welcome to make use of the large barn next door which is perfect for storing bikes. For lovers of wildlife, kestrels, buzzards, skylarks, lapwings, curlews and geese are regular visitors, as are deer, hares and badgers.

Excellent place for some R and R away from all the hustle of every day life. Only short drive away from some lovely shops for everyday items. The hosts Tim and claire both go above and beyond to help with anything you may need. We will most definitely be returning in the future.

The welcome from Tim the owner including the three lovely spaniels was the perfect start to our break, the cottage is on beautiful farmland and is very peaceful, it is located within a couple of miles of Stillington which includes a really lovely pub, very good food and Beer.Ideal location to explore York , Harrogate and the surrounding area.

Emerald Barn is located at the end of a private road with lovely views of the Yorkshire countryside. Really peaceful. It is equipped with everything you should need for a relaxing stay. If you wish to venture then York, Castle Howard and Helmsley are less than 30 minutes away.

We have stayed in numerous cottages over the years and this one is one of the best, the cottage is very well equipped and spotlessly clean.The location of the cottage is fabulous from the views over the fieldRead mores to the absolute peace and quiet. During our weeks stay we visited several places which are all approximately 20-30 mins from the cottage, Malton, Helmsley, Thirsk, Castle Howard and the fabulous city of York which is a must.Also, in Stillington we visited The Bay Tree Pub which is very, very good - highly recommend.The owners Tim and Claire also have three beautiful dogs (Spaniels) which are very friendly. It was lovely sitting out in the morning as they used to come and visit and say hello. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this cottage to any couple who want total relaxation but also have the option of visiting some beautiful villages/towns not very far away.We look forward to maybe visiting again one day.
