A wonderful retreat for two located in the pretty, slow-paced village of Sleights, sitting in a prime location between the beautiful Yorkshire Coast and the picturesque North York Moors.

Perched on the hillside of the stunning Esk Valley in the village of Sleights, you can take your pick of rugged coastlines or gentle countryside walks thanks to this prime position. Drive just 4.5 miles to arrive in the popular coastal town of Whitby (4.5 miles) to enjoy the extensive options of shops, eateries and pubs or visit some of the town's most popular attractions such as Whitby Abbey or Captain Cook Memorial Museum. Head just 3 miles to reach the village of Grosmont where you can hop on a scenic train journey through some of Yorkshire's most picturesque countryside. If that's not enough, travel just a few miles to arrive at the heart of the North York Moors, home to gentle walking paths to be explored.

Make your way up the steps outside to reach the front door of this delightful cottage before stepping inside to discover a super stylish retreat boasting thoughtful, homely touches throughout. The open-plan arrangement is home to the lounge, kitchen and dining area, alongside the beautifully finished bedroom. The kitchen offers all the mod cons you'll need to cook up some hearty homecooked meals during your stay before sitting down at the cosy dining table to eat. Guests can also make use of a breakfast bar for morning coffees or informal dining. The lounge area comes complete with comfortable seating and a Smart TV, perfect for chilled evenings in. The romantic bedroom space is home to a king-size bed complete with luxurious soft furnishings, promising a peaceful night's sleep. The bathroom is housed in a separate room, where you can make the most of the large bath and walk-in power shower.

Step out through the French doors in the lounge to access a private stone patio, offering stunning views of the Eskdale Valley below. Throw open the doors and enjoy a lazy afternoon of watching the steam trains of the North York Railway puff along below you or fire up the built-in BBQ and make the most of some al fresco dining. There's nothing quite like starting your morning with a coffee as you soak up your tranquil surroundings. This property also offers off-road parking.

A little bit of luxury in a beautiful, relaxing location. Everything you could need for a break away from it all, but with everything at hand. We wanted somewhere special that was dog friendly and this was perfect. Walks close by and a safe enclosed garden where they could chill out after a day out.

We just LOVED the retreat. A really lovely place to wake up in and return to at the end of the day. The view was amazing. It was cosy but not cramped with a big walk-in wardrobe space and handy laundry room. Located central to the moors and seaside, we had a great time exploring. Plenty of walks from the cottage if you want them. We were lucky to hRead moreave no upstairs neighbours for the week as it did get a bit noisier when they arrived for the weekend. Our break away in Ewelands Retreat was amazing. We arrived to freshly baked homemade bread and not only a beautiful hamper full of different treats for me and my husband to enjoy but also a hamper for our dog, very special touches. There was everything you needed in the cottage and the decor is beautiful and modern. The views are exceptional. The views are stunning, The Retreat is a studio apartment which is nicely decorated and modern but there is far to much stuff in there-It's cluttered. There was a family staying in the cottage above the Retreat which the noise from above was not appreciated. On an evening it gets cold-the temperature of the under floor heating is set to 16 degrees Read moreand you have to phone the owner to get it adjusted!! the logs soon went on the log burner, which shouldn't have to be the case. There was a cob web from the ceiling to the table and the window at the side of the table had several cob webs on the inside, there was broken glass under the chair in front of the door. The owner was present at 9.15am presumably to make sure you are out by 10am which we didn't appreciate. Hide

We are regular visitors to Ewelands Retreat and cannot fault the experience. The view from the Retreat out over the Esk Valley never fails to inspire. The local town has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. It is close enough to the sea - whitby ,Sandsend etc. and there are numerous walks nearby and slightly further afield. A lovely few days away celebrating a 50th birthday and wedding anniversary,the welcome pack was the best we,d ever had!loved the idea of the honesty bar.The smell of freshly baked bread and the cleanliness of the cottage was very impressive and a lovely enclosed little garden to keep our ruby safe .would definitely return and recommend to friends.

Really enjoyed our stay the view is stunning and sitting in the garden any time of day was a great especially watching the sunset.We felt a bit cramped in the seating area but that's understandable with the lack of space.Everything else was great with attention to detail.The cafetier was not good but we managed!!!!!

This is the mist amazing cottage! No detail has been forgotten by the owners, from the generous welcome Hamper and freshly baked bread to the iPad with music supplied and a smart tv with subscription services all included! Fluffy towels and robes, cosy bed, sofa standard toiletries, well stocked kitchen, relaxing sofa, plenty of cushions for snugglRead moreing and throws for chilly evenings. Even though we had a week of dreadful weather we were not at all bothered! The village has an award winning butcher and a top notch baker. All in all a real winner all round! Absolutely gorgeous luxury property. Couldn't fault it. The owners had thought of everything . It's the best holiday cottage we have stayed in . The bed was really comfy , the kitchen was small but beautiful and had everything we needed for cooking , the bathroom was luxurious with a nice deep bath and separate shower cubicle. Although there was another property above, the owners had cleverly created an outside seating area which was not overlooked . It was great to wake up and look at the view and the only neighbours we could see were the lambs in the next field. Superb accommodation.
