This gorgeous cottage is set on the borders of North Yorkshire and County Durham so you are well placed to explore the delights of both counties. The pretty village of Whorlton makes a perfect base for exploring the North Pennines (10 miles) and the Yorkshire Dales (15 miles) as well visit the village pub. There are numerous walks to enjoy, including the Teesdale Way, or you can admire the landscapes of Swaledale (17 miles) and Arkengarthdale (16 miles). The charming town of Barnard Castle (4 miles) features a host of boutique shops, pubs and cafes as well as the Bowes Museum and a 12th-century castle with stunning views. You could also visit Richmond (13 miles) with its cobbled market square and the medieval Richmond Castle. Heading a little further afield you can discover the historic city of Durham (24 miles).

Step inside the sage green door to discover a stunning contemporary holiday home with character at every turn. Boasting beautiful flagstone floors with underfloor heating throughout, the open-plan living area is home to the lounge, kitchen and dining area. At the heart of this room is a fantastic stone inglenook fireplace, with a cosy wood burner sitting inside. All wood and kindling for the burner are also provided for you. There's a large and comfortable sofa complete with a cosy throw, perfect for curling up on together whilst watching a film. There's Netflix, a DVD player and Wi-Fi included. The kitchen sits to the rear of the cottage: an elegant and well-thought-out out space with glossy work-tops and contemporary units. A dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine and built in hob/oven are included. A separate utility to the rear of the cottage houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. You'll find the cupboards well-stocked with crockery and utensils - everything you'll need to rustle up a romantic dinner for two. There's also a welcome hamper waiting for you on arrival. The dining area sits next to the fire, a lovely spot whatever the time of day. The heated flagstone flooring continues into the bedroom, which is a peaceful and romantic room featuring a king-size bed dressed in the finest luxury bedding. What a joy waking up in this beautiful room, knowing there's no rush to get out of bed. The bathroom is situated next door. Again, with heated flagstone flooring and there is a walk-in shower as well as a separate bath in here, so plenty of candle-lit soaks with a glass of bubbly in hand!

Outside the cottage, there's the traditional English walled garden to enjoy. A patio area to the front comes complete with outdoor furniture for those long lazy lunches in the sun. There is also a paved area to the rear of the cottage which has its own bistro table and chairs which is the perfect spot for a morning coffee, or perhaps an afternoon tipple. The separate utility to the rear of the cottage is ideal for storing muddy boots after a hike across the Dales or for storing bikes if cycling is your thing.

A beautiful little cottage ideally situated for many attractions in the area. Everything was as described in the brochure and the welcome hamper contained wine, which is always a bonus! Ellie contacted us separately with arrival details and her phone contact. Great place!

Lovely stay - cottage lived up to expectations and reviews. Owner Ellie very helpful and responsive. Garden was particularly beautiful at this time of the year. Bed comfortable and bathroom a touch of luxury. Would recommend and would come back.

Lovely cottage in a very friendly village. Really beautiful walk down to the river, from the left side of the road at present closed to traffic for repairs to the bridge ,through the trees and dramatic little water falls to watch along the river. Will definitely return.

Very comfortable cottage equipped with everything we needed. The location is ideal for exploring County Durham and it's not far to Cumbria either! Lots to do locally. We visited the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle and town, Richmond and Low Force Falls.

Perfect cottage, very cozy in a lovely quiet village. Everything you could possibly need and a fabulous welcome hamper. Only 3 miles to Bernard Castle for pubs, shops and restaurants. Great location for days out to Durham, Beamish, Richmond, and the Yorkshire Dales. Highly recommended and would definitely stay again

Had a wonderful relaxing break. Ellie the owner was friendly in her correspondence and left us a lovely welcome gift. The cottage was clean and had everything needed. Bed was comfy, shower powerful, underfloor heating cosy. Weather was kind so we sat in the garden for a cuppa. We really enjoyed our mid-May week at Rosemary Cottage, helped by the weather turning warmer and drier. Everything that was needed was provided and we appreciated the bath after some long walks in Teesdale. Had some good chats with Stan!! Would recommend The Bridge for its meals and welcome.

Stayed for 4 nights for a relaxing winter break. Gorgeous cottage that is well equipped, comfortable, warm and welcoming. Lovely area with lots to do. We will be back again during summer/early autumn to enjoy the garden. Highly recommend.

What a lovely cottage. Greeted with a home made cake we couldnt have asked for more. The main living area is cosy and well set out. The kitchen has everything you need. The bathroom / shower was perfect and the bedroom cosy and quiet. Perfect to wind down. The local pub as 200m up the road and is friendly and serves really good food. Total bliss every stay. This was our third stay at Rosemary cottage and it was just as relaxing and comfortable as ever. Lots of wood for the fire meant we could stay cosy while it rained and rained. Excellent little kitchen for cooking. And a wonderful bath for long soaks. Daisy left us a superb and generous hamper of goodies. Wonderfully peaceful
