The pretty village of Whorlton makes a perfect base for exploring the North Pennines (10 miles) and the Yorkshire Dales (15 miles) as well visit the village pub. There are numerous walks to enjoy, including the Teesdale Way, or you can admire the landscapes of Swaledale (17 miles) and Arkengarthdale (16 miles). The charming town of Barnard Castle (4 miles) features a host of boutique shops, pubs and cafes as well as the Bowes Museum and a 12th-century castle with stunning views. You could also visit Richmond (13 miles) with its cobbled market square and the medieval Richmond Castle. Heading a little further afield you can discover the historic city of Durham (24 miles).

A dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine and built in hob/oven are included. A separate utility to the rear of the cottage houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. You'll find the cupboards well-stocked with crockery and utensils - everything you'll need to rustle up a romantic dinner for two. There's also a welcome hamper waiting for you on arrival. The dining area sits next to the fire, a lovely spot whatever the time of day. The heated flagstone flooring continues into the bedroom, which is a peaceful and romantic room featuring a king-size bed dressed in the finest luxury bedding. What a joy waking up in this beautiful room, knowing there's no rush to get out of bed. The bathroom is situated next door. Again, with heated flagstone flooring and there is a walk-in shower as well as a separate bath in here, so plenty of candle-lit soaks with a glass of bubbly in hand!
Outside the cottage, there's the traditional English walled garden to enjoy. A patio area to the front comes complete with outdoor furniture for those long lazy lunches in the sun. There is also a paved area to the rear of the cottage which has its own bistro table and chairs which is the perfect spot for a morning coffee, or perhaps an afternoon tipple. The separate utility to the rear of the cottage is ideal for storing muddy boots after a hike across the Dales or for storing bikes if cycling is your thing.
