A perfect retreat for a couple or a small family, this beautiful period cottage offers cosy accommodation in a lovely village which is ideally situated for exploring Yorkshire's wonderful moors and dales.

This delightful cottage, which is set in a pretty North Yorkshire village, is within easy reach of the bustling town of Richmond (7 miles), home to Richmond Castle and a choice of great restaurants, pubs and independent shops. It's a perfect base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales (8 miles), with the outskirts of the North York Moors within easy reach (19 miles). There are several idyllic villages nearby, including Moulton (0.5 miles) and Middleton Tyas (1.5 miles), or you could head up into the North Pennines (18 miles). There are several charming towns with plenty for you to discover including Northallerton (13.5 miles), Thirsk (21.5 miles) and Yarm (15 miles), which is set on the banks of the River Tees.


Stepping into this lovely Grade II listed property, an elegant entrance hall leads you through to the pretty lounge which is an ideal space to relax in, with Smart TV, DVD, plenty of comfortable seating and a wood burner. Moving into the stylishly designed and tastefully decorated kitchen/diner, you will find an attractive dining area and the kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, ceramic hob, oven, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. Exploring this single-level period property further, you will find two generous bedrooms, each with a super king-size bed which can be made up as twin beds on prior request. The first bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with WC, while the second has an en-suite shower room complete with WC.


Going outside, you will find a charming enclosed walled garden with a sheltered stone patio and furniture as well as a pretty lawn. This is an ideal space to enjoy a spot of lunch or a morning coffee.


Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Perfect quiet village location a few miles from Scotch corner. Pub 5 minutes walk served excellent food. Cottage lovely and cosy, cellular coverage patchy but that was a nice change.

As a group of 4 we stayed in Artists Retreat for 3 nights. The cottage was extremely well equiped, with everything needed during our stay. A very nice complimentary box of 'goodies' and a bottle of prosecco were much appreciated. The cottage is in lovely quiet surroundings with an excellent put serving wonderful food and drinks. Lovely cottage, clean and cosy. The owners had thought of everything even down to fresh flowers in some rooms.Located in a very pretty spot in a very pretty village with the bonus of a great village pub, great food and drinks.

This is a stunning area and the village of Moulton is lovely. The cottage is beautifully presented, well equipped and extremely comfortable. The garden was a great asset as we were able to sit out and enjoy a drink and meal. Lovely food at the local pub and altogether a great location.

This was a fantastic cottage for a weekend away with the girls. Can highly recommend the Black Bull who looked after us well. The cottage was well presented, comfy and welcoming and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
