This stylish, cosy cottage on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales makes an ideal retreat for families or friends looking to immerse themselves in the tranquillity and splendour of the area.

Situated in the pretty village of Middleham, Wensleydale, this superb cottage offers guests the opportunity to discover the unspoilt countryside of the Yorkshire Dales, whilst enjoying a range of shops and eateries within the village itself. As well as its castle, the village is also famous for being home to several racehorse trainers and this property allows you to make the most of both; sit back and enjoy views of the castle, whilst listening to the sound of horses' hooves outside. Decorated to a very high standard, you will love returning to this property at the end of a busy day exploring local highlights such as Bolton Castle (8 miles) and Wensleydale's many waterfalls including Aysgarth Falls (9 miles).

Once you've admired the attractive stone exterior, step inside and you will find yourself in the beautiful lounge/diner. A charming blend of original features and cool, contemporary décor, with the gentle warmth of the heated flagstone flooring underfoot and the more intense heat of the wood burner. Adjacent to the lounge/diner is the bespoke country-style kitchen complete with Belfast sink, marble worktop and breakfast bar. It is well-equipped to ensure you can cater for all your needs. Wandering upstairs, you will first arrive at a mezzanine-style landing that offers a snug space to enjoy a book, crossword or nap. Just off here is the splendid super-king master bedroom complete with a stylish walk-in shower in the en-suite (up a step from the bedroom). With its cool, relaxing tones, luxurious soft furnishings and views over the village, this room is something special. The second bedroom can be found on the second floor in the eaves of the cottage and is also a super-king but can be made into twins on request. In here, the open-plan en-suite allows you to enjoy a soak in the large, roll-top bath, whilst enjoying views across the village.

To the rear of the property, there is an immaculate courtyard with a small lawned area. With patio furniture this is the ideal space for al fresco dining, as long as the Yorkshire weather allows. There is also a chimenea for those cool, clear evenings when you want to sit outside and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

  • 2 bedrooms – 2 super-king, but 1 can be made up as 2 singles if required
  • 2 bathrooms – both en-suites

A characterful property in a lovely part of the country. We liked the traditional features, the garden where we could have breakfast, and the sound of horses heading out for a morning gallop. Lovely cottage in centre of the village. Friendly church. Ideally placed for visiting local attractions. We particularly enjoyed visits to Wensleydale Creamery, Black Sheep Brewery, nearby castles and the Bowes Museum. Great to watch the racehorses going to and from the gallops.

We would recommend this cosy, well appointed and well located cottage. We had a lovely time in Warwick cottage. It was warm during a cold week in February, serving as a great base for our walks in the Dales. The lounge and beds were very comfortable and the log burner was very effective. Middleham is a pretty small town, full of racehorses, and verRead morey well located for walks from the door or nearby with a short drive. The cottage had everything we needed to cook, and to wash muddy walking clothes. Hide

A lovely comfortable and well presented cottage with easy access and parking. Grocery store and three pubs just a short walk. The racing stables tour was very informative and a great way to spend a morning. We enjoyed waking up in the morning to the sound off the horses passing by on their way to train on the gallops.
