Tucked away in a tranquil position with the sound of the river trickling nearby, this charming hideaway is perfect for couples and families looking to immerse themselves in the Yorkshire countryside.
This delightful end-of-terrace period stone cottage is located in a peaceful corner of Aysgarth village in Wensleydale. Combining original features with an elegant country cottage style, you will find it easy to relax and switch off from your hectic lifestyle. With the River Ure flowing behind the property and views of Aysgarth Falls from the balcony, the best of Wensleydale is literally on the doorstep. Travelling further afield, either by foot or by car, you can discover other highlights: more picturesque waterfalls such as Hardraw Force (1 mile); market town Hawes, the home of Wensleydale cheese (9 miles); and the quirky, award-winning attraction, The Forbidden Corner, with its labyrinth of tunnels and chambers (1 mile).
Once you've admired the pretty stone exterior, you will step inside to be welcomed by a cosy open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. You will instantly notice how original features from the 19th-century building such as the exposed stone walls and beams have blended with contemporary cottage-style décor to create a homely feel, with underfloor heating as an added bonus. At the heart of the room is a wood burner, perfect for snuggling up in front of to enjoy a DVD or good book. Upstairs, you will find the two relaxing bedrooms (one double and one twin) with cool, calm tones and a range of country-style furniture creating a simple, but stylish feel. The family bathroom sits between the two and has a bath to soak into when those weary legs need a rest.
Outside, there is a lawned garden allowing for al fresco dining with the sound of the river providing a relaxing soundtrack. There is also a BBQ available. For keen anglers, there are fishing rights for the River Ure included and outside storage for fishing rods, bikes and other outdoor equipment.
