Boasting original features such as a Victorian cast iron range, this handsome farmhouse is steeped in history but still has many contemporary touches to ensure your stay is a comfortable one.

Situated in a small hamlet in the North York Moors, there are 600 square miles of stunning, heather-coated countryside waiting to be discovered by foot or by car. Within the National Park, there are also plenty of picturesque market towns and villages with tearooms, cafes, pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets, including foodies' haven, Helmsley (14 miles), and Pickering (16 miles).

Once you've appreciated the attractive exterior of this cottage, step inside where you'll find a spacious kitchen/diner with all the mod-cons to ensure you can cater for all your needs. The underfloor heating will keep your feet warm, but for more heat, head into the cosy lounge to snuggle up in front of the wood burner with a good book. The simple, elegant furniture creates a contemporary cottage style, making it easy to relax. Stone floors, warm woods and neutral tones throughout make it light, airy and spacious. For washing off muddy boots or paws, there is a convenient utility room downstairs as well as a vast family bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate shower. Upstairs, there are three generous bedrooms (one king-size, one double and a twin), once again lovingly decorated in a simple, sophisticated style. There is a further bathroom on this floor with another bath and separate walk-in shower.

Outside, there is a large, lawned garden, which the kids and four-legged friends will love running around. For those looking for a more sedate holiday, the stone patio is the perfect place to sit back and soak up the rural tranquillity of the surrounding countryside.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

This is a lovely well appointed cottage in a wonderful location. We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing stay mid September and a bonus was having a pub a few steps away which served good meals with friendly and welcoming hosts.

Beautiful cottage in small group of holiday lets - all beautifully restored old cottages/barns. Wonderful location in tiny hamlet on heart of the north York moors. Ideal for walking and exploring the area.

Beautifully appointed cottage in a lovely location with stunning views and access to the moors. Relatively isolated but with a pub opposite and easy travelling to Kirkbymoorside, Pickering, the wonderful market town of Helmsley and Whitby & the coast.

We had a fabulous time at west view cottage. Everything was pretty much perfect and just what we wanted. The only other things that would have helped are... as its a dog friendly cottage an outside hose would be useful for washing off mud. Ours stayed in the utility if they were muddy but still felt uneasy bringing them in if they were Mucky. WouldRead more have been nice to have a little history of the cottage too... date built and pics of original layout and before and after renovations. The lounge would have been a little tight for 6 people to sit down comfortably. Info on dog friendly walks would have also been useful though we did manage to purchase a guide in helmsley. Having said all that we would and do hope to return to this beautiful cottage Hide

We had a lovely stay at West View Cottage. It has been renovated to a very high standard, and is beautifully kept. The living is cosy with a great fire but would be small for six adults. It is in beautiful surroundings, with walks from the door. We love the area and came for the location, but others need to be aware that the nearest shop is some miles away.We were particularly impressed by the owners response to a small problem in one of the bathrooms - they responded to contact within half an hour and the problem was fixed before the end of the dayOverall it was a great week - even my teenage son wants to return! Great cottage in a wonderful location. Cottage was spotlessly clean and is extremely well equipped and furnished to an extremely high standard. If I was being really pedantic the only negative is the lounge is not big enough for six people. Would highly recommend.

Because we have 2 little dogs we tend to stay in cottages for most of our holidays so we feel that we have built up a fair bit of experience. This one is probably one of the best that we have stayed in.To start, its a fabulous location! The cottage is beautifully restored with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. We were impressed by the attRead moreention to thoughtful details and the well equipped kitchen and utility. The welcome hamper was very much appreciated and nice to see logs ready for the fire even though we didn't need them as we were blessed with stunning weather! Everything is immaculately clean and exceptionally well presented. It's been designed with the guests in mind and is not not like some places that owners use to dump their unwanted and tired paraphernalia. There's an enclosed garden which was so helpful in managing our two little dogs and we enjoyed sitting out in the sunshine. A parasol would have been a welcome piece as it was so hot! There weren't any real downsides - but worth noting that it's next to a small road and despite being in an isolated location, gets a surprising amount of passing vehicles. That said, we stayed on a bank holiday which, admittedly, was busier than during the week and it wasn't too much of a problem for us.Also worth noting is that the beds have firm mattresses. I realise that this is a very personal preference, however, for me, was the only thing that prevented me from scoring it a 10 on comfort! We would stay again and most likely will. (But might take a mattress topper next time!)Highly recommended. Hide
