Perfect for exploring the stunning Yorkshire countryside, this charming Grade II-listed cottage, set just on the outskirts of the historic town of Richmond, is a perfect romantic retreat for two.

Set on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale, Richmond is a historic and thriving town and features a large cobbled market square, a choice of tearooms, independent shops, pubs and restaurants and a fine 11th century castle. Easby Abbey is just a mile away. Beyond Richmond lie the glorious Yorkshire Dales (about 2.5 miles to the outskirts) with miles of beautiful walks to enjoy. Among many attractions in the Dales are The Forbidden Corner (14 miles), Castle Bolton (13.5 miles) and the ruins of Richard III's castle at Middleham (12 miles). Heading north you explore the North Pennines and Castle Barnard (15 miles).

Set along a terraced street in Richmond this pretty Grade II listed property makes a lovely romantic getaway for two. On entering this light, cosy and sweet property you will find yourself in a bright, tastefully furnished and attractively decorated open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with oak flooring. The welcoming and pretty lounge is an ideal space to relax in at the end of a lovely day and features comfortable seating, a TV and DVD, and a warming living flame fire. There's also a charming dining area which is ideal for enjoying a romantic meal, and you will find the stylishly designed kitchen is fully equipped with everything you may need including an oven and hob, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave and granite worktops. Heading up the open-tread oak and glass staircase you will find the delightful bedroom which has a double bed, TV/DVD and an en-suite wet room complete with walk-in shower and WC.

Beautifully decorated and warm cottage! Got a wonderful welcome from Andrea and a great welcome hamper with all the essentials and a generous bottle of fizz on ice! The cottage is perfectly situated a short walk from the town and also on the road with the beat views of Richmond and its lovely scenery! Lovely, comfortable, little cottage in a perfect location. Richmond is a gem of a town with good shopping, restaurants and friendly people. We went on some great walks along the River Swale and across the moors. The cottage is small but has everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable break.

The road noise is quite considerable, they do mention it, and the cottage has many excellent things going for it, but it's central location on a busy main road out of town, makes the noise hard to ignore.

Small, beautifully equipped and exploits limited space to maximum effect. Excellent Welcome Hamper. Convenient location and easy access to town and local areas of interest. Two negative points: Busy, noisy road outside with regular overnight traffic, especially HGV's and no external seating / garden area. Otherwise, very good.

The cottage was located in an ideal spot to walk everywhere .When we arrived the owner Andrea met us and showed us around.There was a food hamper and a bottle of Prosseco on ice which was lovely.We will definately be returning.

We absolutely loved our stay at Xanadu. The cottage is perfectly equipped and beautifully done. The welcome hamper was a wonderful surprise and there are fabulous walks from the doorstep. It even has fast internet so we were able to watch Netflix as we took our firestick with us. It was perfect. X

Lovely modern property close to all amenities and great walks on the doorstep , we had a rather wet weekend so was pleased we had the washer dryer in the property and it was a find to have such a modern clean well equipped property that was dog friendly , the welcome hamper was a bonus and we did enjoy our free bottle of prossecco on arrival . The Read morehospitality of the owner and all the finishing touches in the property are very rare to come across , I would not hesitate to book again thankyou Hide

Really lovely stay for 2 and a pooch. Host was so welcoming & had prosecco on ice ready on our arrival. Cottage is immaculately maintained and decorated to a high standard. Location is fab too, less than 10 mins from centre & walks by the river swale. We would definitely like to visit again!

A great little cottage beautifully decorated & lovely host. Minor drawback is the busy road - a link to A1. Not so bad during the night. A real shame theres no outdoor space.
