Tucked away in the heart of Robin Hood’s Bay, this 17th-century cottage is an idyllic coastal retreat for couples yearning to enjoy beautiful sandy beaches and the crashing waves of the sea.

Set within one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire, this cosy cottage can be found residing in a little street which winds its way down to the ocean in Robin Hood’s Bay. Wainwright's famous coast-to-coast walk starts just a few yards from the doorstep, perfect for keen walkers. Within half a mile are a variety of shops and eateries, while in the opposite direction are the Cleveland Way and Fylingdales (both under 2.5 miles). The pretty cobbled streets, harbour and beaches of Whitby are 5.5 miles away or venture slightly further to the coastal villages of Sandsend, Staithes and Runswick Bay (all under 15.5 miles). Nature lovers will also appreciate a visit to nearby Ravenscar (11 miles), a perfect spot for seal watching around the headland.

The entrance to this period cottage can be found via a flight of stone steps, which lead to a clifftop garden. Step through the doorway to reveal a welcoming kitchen/diner featuring shaker units, a sleek granite worktop and a living flame coal effect gas fire to keep you warm and toasty in the chillier months. Equipped with everything you will need to rustle up dinner for two, there is an induction hob, electric oven and built-in microwave as well as a compact fridge and mini freezer. For the perfect ambience, turn on the living flame coal effect gas fire and settle down at the rustic table to enjoy your cooking with the warm glow of the flames in the background. A characterful lounge provides a relaxing space to unwind with an original cast iron fireplace, exposed beams overhead and original stripped pine doors. Sink into the sofa or comfy armchair and enjoy a classic movie together on the TV. Wi-Fi and a SONOS sound system allow you to listen to your favourite music, and there is also a stack of books and walking guides available. Upstairs you will find a double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and a bathroom next door with a bath and shower overhead, the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the coast. Both the bedroom and bathroom are located in the eaves of the property with low ceiling height.

Outside, a small sheltered terraced garden boasts a patio, bistro table and rattan chairs, an idyllic spot for enjoying an afternoon tipple before heading into the village for dinner. And as darkness falls, a chimenea provides cosy warmth long into the evening. There is also secure bike storage.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

This is a beautiful cottage in a great location in RHB. The small outside seating area is a bonus. Very well equipped and the owner is excellent (very communicative and helpful)

Quirky cottage in an idyllic quaint village. Couldn't fault a thing, the cottage was very well equipped and spotless. Patio area was great for chilling and giving dogs a bit space. The daily climb up from bottom of Robin Hoods Bay to the top has improved my leg muscles no end lol, no good for anyone with mobility issues, but we would definately go Read moreback one day. Hide

This is a beautiful cottage in a quiet corner of the village. The cottage is clean, well equipped and very cosy. It is beautifully decorated, with a calm and relaxing feel. The little garden is a huge plus and the little extras, like dog towels and Prosecco on arrival, really made it that extra bit special.

The property is very comfortable. The owner has provided everything you need, even a hairdryer, next to a plug and a mirror. That doesnt happen very often. The location is brilliant, literally minutes away from the beach, walks and several bars and eateries. It was our first visit to Robin Hoods Bay but we are already planning a return visit.
