The picturesque village of Winfrith Newburgh is a perfect base for a family looking to explore the ancient Jurassic Coast as well as being ideally placed for enjoying the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Heading toward the coast you can explore the delightful Lulworth Cove, 4 miles, Ringstead Bay, 8 miles and the famous natural arch of Durdle Door, 3 miles away. You can also visit popular coastal towns including Wareham 9 miles, Swanage 17.5 miles and Weymouth 11 miles. Heading inland you can relax in the market town of Dorchester (9.5 miles). Close to the beautiful Purbeck Hills, you can also discover the magnificent Lulworth Castle which is 6 miles away or the ancient ruins of Corfe Castle, 12.5 miles.

Entering this lovely property, you will find yourself in the beamed hallway that leads to the dining area, kitchen and lounge. The charming dining area makes an ideal space for the whole family to sit down and share a meal. The attractively designed kitchen is equipped with a traditional AGA, electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The washing machine and dryer can be found in the garage. The lounge is an ideal space to relax in with plenty of seating, TV/DVD, an iPod dock, a piano and an open fire set in an exposed stone inglenook. French windows lead out onto the enclosed courtyard and front garden area. There is also a ground-floor WC. Going upstairs you will find two bedrooms; a spacious master bedroom with a king-size bed and TV and a twin bedroom. There’s also a bathroom with a shower over the bath and a WC.

Stepping outside, you can unwind in the pretty back garden which has a courtyard and a BBQ. The front garden, which is not enclosed, is laid to lawn with trees and additional shrubs. Off-road parking is available for up to two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The cottage was really lovely, spacious and well equipped. The bottle of wine and tea and coffee, milk and biscuits was a really welcoming touch and much appreciated. We loved the village too, especially the shop which is excellent.

We enjoyed a lovely week staying at Blackbird Barn, which was comfortable and well equipped, our daughter loved playing the piano. The location was very good for visiting all our favourite places around the Isle of Purbeck.

Pros: quiet and safe residential area, very easy access to main roads, local shop, pub within walking distance, very spacious cottage, ample car parking space, friendly and welcoming hostess. Cons: drains from the bath and bathroom basin are rather blocked up and did not allow adequate drainage of dirty water. Big sofa in the lounge is rather smellRead morey and dirty as well as very uncomfortable to sit in. The washing machine was so dirty we could not use it. Hide

A spacious barn conversion, very dog friendly, conveniently situated with nearby small shop and pubs. Lulworth Cove 5 minutes away and Corfe 15 minutes. Owner extremely helpful if there are any unexpected problems. Added benefit of a piano if you play. Highly recommend.

Blackbird Barn has all that you need for a home from home holiday. It is very well equiped and very dog friendly. There is a field just across the road to exercise the dog and a village shop. It is a good jumping off spot for many local places of interest and quiet nights in are made very cosy by the lovely log fire. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful week!! Blackbird Barn has been a fantastic base; so cosy, comfortable and well-equipped. We were quite torn at times whether to stay in or go out! The location is ideal for visiting so many of Dorsets beautiful locations; Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove, Portland Bill, Weymouth, Hive Beach, Charmouth, Kimmeridge Bay, Wareham... there Read moreis still so much to see that I hope we will return. And, next time, I might bring a van to take the gorgeous, comfy sofa home with me!! Hide

Excellent cottage in a brilliant central location. Really warm and cozy as we were on a winter holiday. Only slight problem was that the open fire smoked badly when it was windy but everything else was excellent.
