A charming former mill dating back to the 1800s, offering a contemporary home-from-home in the heart of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and within easy reach of the Jurassic Coast.

One of four cottages located within a former cider and flax mill in a picturesque valley. Enjoy peace and tranquillity, surrounded by winding paths, a butterfly meadow and a gently flowing stream. A welcoming country pub is within 1 mile and a handy shop is within 2 miles. With plenty of open countryside on your doorstep, you can spend your days uncovering the picturesque walking trails or head to the coast. Just 6.5 miles away sits the attractive West Bay, home to the wonderful Golden Cap beach, rugged cliff tops and a collection of shops and eateries. Venture a little further afield and travel 16 miles to arrive in Lyme Regis, with its museums and the rocky beachfront of Monmouth Beach.

Step through the stable door into a light-filled double aspect open-plan space compromising of the kitchen, lounge and dining area. Complete with original features including vaulted double height ceilings and a traditional wood burner, this space is all on one level and perfect for the chillier months. The contemporary kitchen comes with all the mod-cons you’ll need to cook up a storm before enjoying your creations in the dining area. Fire up the wood burner and retreat to the lounge area to unwind in front of the Smart TV or lose yourself in a read from the bookshelf. Of an evening, retreat to the restful en-suite double bedroom boasting plush furnishings, a double height ceiling and tiled floor, to offer a peaceful night’s sleep. The en-suite shower room is a wonderful refresher following a day along the coast.

There’s much to be appreciated outside also. Enjoy the sloping communal gardens boasting winding paths, a butterfly meadow and a tranquil stream (unfenced). Venture over the small footbridge crossing the stream into a private lawned garden, complete with BBQ and two terraces with a seating area – perfect for al fresco dining during the summer months. There is off-road parking for two cars.

Lovely setting and cottage right size for us. Great shower very easy to work which made a pleasant change. Very well equipped had all we needed.

It was a lovely cottage with everything you need provided. I would not recommend it for families with children as it is too distant from the beach at West Bay and there are no local facilities for them.

Absolutely loved the cottage and location. Quiet, nice local walks. All made for a very relaxing week The Half Moon pub at Melplash just down the road offered a nice ambience and great food.

The cottage, although only one bedroomed, seemed quite spacious. It was always warm, in spite of being Christmas time. Theres a lovely log burner, but it never got cold enough for us to light it!! The kitchen was well equipped, though there is no dishwasher (not a problem for us as we dont have one either!) The bed was comfortable and the bathroom Read morelarge. A rug on the window side of the bed would have been nice as the tiled floor is quite cold. The low key Christmas decorations were ideal as we were trying to get away from all the hype. Overall, a lovely place to stay. Hide
