This beautiful character cob cottage boasts period features paired with contemporary amenities. Enjoying a lovely location in the village of Winfrith Newburgh, this traditional property is ideally situated to enjoy the beauty of the Dorset countryside and coastline.

From the moment you arrive at this picture perfect cottage, you’ll feel as if you’ve gone back to a simpler time with a more relaxed pace of life. This 18th century Grade II listed building is built from stone and brick and is at the centre of a row of three properties on a village street, boasting an enclosed front garden. Having once belonged to a shoemaker, this character cottage offers some beautiful period features including low ceilings and beams. All furnishings are of the highest standard, and with central heating throughout, guests can be sure of a cosy welcome even during the winter months. The property is under half a mile from the local pub and 100 yards from the village shop. With the county town of Dorchester just 9 miles away and beautiful Lulworth with its famous castle and cove within a 3-mile drive, the cottage is ideally located for the perfect Dorset holiday.

The welcoming entrance hall has ample space for boots and coats, opening into a beamed dining/sitting room. This lovely space cleverly blends old and new with traditional window seats and an Inglenook fireplace with original bread oven and wood burner, and cutting-edge equipment, including a Smart TV and iPod dock. The ground floor also features a kitchen with a tiled floor, Butler sink, oak worktops and a dishwasher, and a bathroom with a traditional roll-top bath. Please note, there are low beams and doorways on the ground floor. Head up the winding, cottage-style stairs and you’ll discover two comfortable bedrooms with low eaves, therefore reduced head height. One is a twin while the other is a 5-foot double with its own en-suite shower room.

Outside to the rear, guests can enjoy a well-kept typical country cottage garden, which is divided into three levels comprising paved paths, a pergola, terraces and a grassed lawn, backing on to open fields. This is a wonderful spot to relax on a sunny day and enjoy the gorgeous rural setting. A front garden is enclosed by a flint wall. There is also a garage with sufficient space to park one small car.

The cottage is very cosy and we had a great holiday. Parking wasn't a problem for us, as we took a small car and were able to park it in the garage. This made our week easier, as we didn't need to think about parking.

The cottage is located in a lovely little village, and near many attractions. It has everything you need, with a village store only 5mins walk away, the local pub is a few minutes drive away.

This was a repeat stay at this lovely cottage and as before we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Cordwainers is pretty and very comfortable. It is so pleasant having a garden that one can sit and eat when the weather is fine. The village is delightful with a well stocked shop and the nearby Sailor's Return a great place to drink or dine.
