This charming stunning 18th-century Grade II-listed cottage is full of character and ideally located in the village of Corfe Castle.

Situated close to the bustling centre of Corfe Castle, this beautiful traditional cottage is packed full of style. The immediate vicinity of the property is a quiet idyll yet step a little further away and you are in the centre of the village and near the ruins of Corfe Castle. Corfe Castle was originally constructed in the 11th century by William the Conqueror and has been adapted on many occasions since. During the summer, the Purbeck Film Festival holds movie evenings at the castle which are a spectacular experience. Younger visitors will love the model village, while older visitors who remember the Famous Five books by Enid Blyton might be interested to know that Corfe Castle was the inspiration for Kirrin Castle.

A beautiful stone archway holds the entrance to this cottage and on entering through the stable door into the hall, the period features appear instantly visible. The beautiful flagstone floor is a wonderful addition which extends into the adjoining kitchen/breakfast room. The period features continue with stone walls and an original bread oven in its own inglenook, but this is mixed with appliances befitting a modern-day kitchen. The dining room is reached down two steps and has a wonderful parquet floor and feature fireplace; there are then two steps into the sitting room with continuing parquet flooring, log burner and comfortable furniture to relax in. Up the open-tread carpeted stairs there are three good-sized bedrooms, all with beams and associated reduced ceiling height. The first double bedroom has an en-suite, up three steps, and this is home to a sumptuous roll-top bath and separate shower, WC and basin. The two remaining bedrooms have wonderful views and share a family bathroom with shower over bath, WC and basin.

The front of this property is located on a village lane while the rear has a pretty cottage garden with terrace, shrubbery, trees and blooming flower beds. To fully experience the nature on offer at this property, you should visit the property’s wilder garden a little further up through the main garden.

Beautiful cottage located with a view to Corfe Castle. There are low ceilings and beams in places so you do have to mind your head. A cottage with bags of character but not without modern amenities. The location close to the square is excellent.

The cottage and its location were perfect. The parking was good thought the bay number could be larger/ clearer as it was twilight when we parked and difficult to locate. The kitchen was loverly to cook in and well stocked with equipment. The door shelv in the refrigerator was broken and repaired with sellotape so I was not confident at putting iteRead morems of weight on it which reduced the capacity. The ensuite bathroom with the great roll top bath really needs a sign above the door on entering. I realise it's a cottage with low beams etc but when you enter a door and go up steps you expect there to be headroom and as a 6ft person I ended up smashing the top of my head the first time I entered nearly knocked myself out and had the bump/ lump for the following week. The log burner was great for cozy evenings. One comment would be to make it clearer where the actual heating controls are as we couldn't find them the first evening and it was very cold. We looked in every cupboard in the property near an arch and only realised it was outside and the key on the hook was for the door opposite the front door and had the boiler and controls in there, so the second evening we had heat. All in all a loverly place. Hide

A few bulbs out and dishwasher needs a thorough clean and salt adding - i bought a box of dishwasher salt and left it there. Also cooker extractor hood prob needs a service . When we arrived it smelt a bit greasy in the kitchen. Shame there was no comfortable garden furniture to relax and garden is restricted access at the back.Pillows in the main Read morebedroom were really uncomfortable as the pillow cases were so small and the pillows are packed tightly inside them . otherwise it was really well presented and clean and well equipped.
