An elegant mix of classic and contemporary, this detached cottage in Osmington village proudly presents many of its beautiful, original features alongside lots of luxurious modern touches.

Pride of place in the centre of the village, a number of cafes and amenities are within walking distance. Less than 1 mile from the cottage, Osmington Bay beach is within easy reach, rewarding visitors with a large pebbly beach and blue sea. Or enjoy a stroll to the pub, located 1.5 miles away, and pour over the local menu. Further up the coast, the iconic Durdle Door is only a 10-mile drive and a must for anyone in the area, whether you are making a quick pitstop or spending the whole day.

Coming in through the front door your eye will immediately be drawn to the period stone fireplace with fantastic detailing, where a functioning wood burner now makes itself at home. Facing the lounge area, the wood burner is not only an attractive feature but a truly atmospheric addition in winter as it throws a rosy glow across the room. Flop on the sofa with one of the many books provided or inhale the hot wisps of steam from a freshly brewed cuppa. Sporting an open-plan design, the downstairs living area has an intimate, social feel, whilst still providing plenty of space to spread out. On the far side of the living area, a dining table sits next to the window, ready for dinner time or a game of cards. Partly separated by a fantastic original archway, downstairs is also home to a kitchen. Stepping through the archway and down a couple of steps, the kitchen is surprisingly spacious and equipped with an oven and hob, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. Heading up the original stone, turret-style staircase with rope handrail, you will come to a small landing with a few more steps, and then the bedroom. Home to a double bed, the bedroom’s huge French-style doors open up to let in a refreshing breeze as well as garden and countryside views. On the opposite side of the bedroom to the windows is the bathroom. Here, you can find a bath with overhead shower, sink and WC. The bedroom has slightly reduced height in the eaves.

Heading outside, the property’s rear garden, accessible via two steps, includes a pretty, gravelled area. Another three steps lead you up to a spacious raised deck, affording views of the village and hills beyond. If you’re bringing wheels with you, you can park 1 car on the drive and store your bike in the garage.

Perfect location for exploring the Jurassic coast. Set in a picturesque village, beautifully laid out, well equipped and quiet. The spiral staircase, which does have good handholds, does need some getting used to. Would be happy to recommend the cottage to friends and we hope to revisit soon.

This is a lovely cottage for two, the steps to the bedrooms are a bit tricky for the less able but this is made clear in the description. Otherwise it is peaceful, spotless and had everything one could need for a comfortable break. The owners made a welcome call to make sure we were happy with everything and Lizzie was also very helpful and respondRead moreed quickly to our report regarding the stair rope. The area is lovely with lots to do and see. Hide

This is a lovely quaint cottage with all you need in the way of equipment if you want to cook yourself. If you dont, the nearest pub serving food, (the sly fox) was a big disappointment. This meant a drive out to The Springhead pub. The village has little in way of services so everything involved the car. Having said that there are some great walksRead more from the front door and if it was a purely walking holiday I wanted I would return. That said wife & I had a very relaxing week. Hide

Picture postcard village with plenty of walks from the door and a great pub in the village. Lovely cottage with bags of charm and perfect for getting to most of Dorset's main attractions.

We werent disappointed with Nutmeg cottage at all - it was as cosy and characterful as we hoped it would be from the website. Also spotlessly clean, well equipped and tastefully presented. Nice and warm too given the time of year. Location is excellent, easy access to countryside and coast yet convenient for the town. Its a great combination so wouRead moreld definitely stay again. Very well equipped, compact and cozy but roomy upstairs. Even a little study on the landing. Plenty of storage for clothes and food in the kitchen. Parking space available. Internet is variable though.
