Set in a delightful rural location, this Grade II listed thatched cottage makes a wonderful holiday home for a couple or a small family wanting a tranquil country retreat within easy reach of the sea.

Situated within the Bride Valley, the picturesque village of Burton Bradstock is just half a mile from Hive Beach and is a perfect base for exploring the South West Coast Path and the Jurassic Coast. The cottage is ideal for exploring the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the West Dorset Heritage Coast. There are stunning clifftop walks to enjoy, with Chesil Beach running eastwards and the coastal town of Bridport to the north-west (3 miles). Other nearby beaches include West Bay (2 miles), Charmouth (10 miles) and Eype (4.5 miles). Heading inland you can visit Eggardon Hill (6.5 miles), Kingston Russell Stone Circle (8 miles), the remains of Abbotsbury Abbey (7 miles) and the Nine Stones (10 miles).

Entering this delightful cottage, you will find yourself in the light and tastefully decorated lounge. This is a lovely space to unwind in, with Smart TV, plenty of comfortable seating and a flame-effect electric fire set in an inglenook fireplace. An archway leads you through to the cheerful dining room. There’s also an attractive galley kitchen fully equipped with an oven, microwave, washing machine and a fridge with an ice compartment. A low doorway leads through to the utility area where the dishwasher is housed, and which also has plenty of space to store coats and boots. You will also find a bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC. Heading upstairs there are two cosy bedrooms with reduced height at the eaves. The first is a double bedroom with an en-suite WC, and there’s a charming single bedroom.

Going outside, you can relax in the pretty garden which has a lawn, stone walls, borders and outdoor furniture. Off-road parking is available for one car on the gravel drive.

Good position, walk to the beach in less than 10 minutes. Two good pubs within walking distance who serve good meals. We have used this cottage before.

Excellent location for family with a baby. We went with our 18 month old and it was a very enjoyable holiday. The cottage is well laid out and the second bedroom held our travel cot fine. The cottage has a large side garden and parking. We went on walks around the village (and to the pub). Excellent location in a picturesque village. We realised that an old thatched cottage would be relatively compact but it would be informative to at least point out that some of the doorways are low e.g. approx 172cms and 152cms.

The cottage was very cosy and had all that we needed. The only minor thing was the temperature in the living room for this time of year. it was probably the stone floor which took a long time to warm up and left the room a bit on the cold side.
