Enjoying a tranquil location in the Dorset countryside, this beautiful 18th-century mid-row stone cottage has been lovingly updated to provide cosy and inviting family accommodation in idyllic surroundings.

Located on a no-through lane leading to the inland coast path and the famous Osmington White Horse on the South Dorset Downs, this cottage is perfect for exploring the Dorset countryside and the stunning Jurassic Coast. Heading east along the coast you can explore Ringstead Bay (3.5 miles) and Lulworth Cove (11 miles), and encounter the natural arch of Durdle Door (10 miles). To the west is the popular seaside town of Weymouth (5 miles) with its beautiful crescent bay, long sandy beaches and popular attractions including Sandworld and the Jurassic Skyline. Heading inland you can visit Monkey World (10.5 miles), the Tank Museum (11 miles) or some of the places associated with Thomas Hardy including his birthplace in Higher Bockhampton (9.5 miles) and his home in Dorchester (8 miles).

Three stone steps lead up into this delightful cottage. On entering, you will find the welcoming lounge which retains several original features including a beamed ceiling, pine floorboards and a wood burner set in a stone inglenook. With a Smart TV, DVD, Bose Bluetooth and an iPod dock, this is a lovely space to relax in. There’s also a charming dining room with French doors to the garden and an attractive kitchen equipped with a cooker, microwave, washing machine, fridge and freezer. The ground floor also features a wet room with WC. Going up the steep cottage-style stairs you will find three cosy bedrooms on the first floor, all with sloping ceilings and reduced head height at the eaves. A step down leads into the king-size room, and there’s also a twin room and a single room, both with a feature chimney breast. The bathroom is complete with a shower over the bath and a WC. This room also has a low ceiling.

Stepping outside you can sit back in the back garden which has a paved path, outdoor furniture, a terrace and flowerbeds, and backs onto a wild, wooded hillside. Parking is available on the village lane.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Comfortable cottage in a great location; great for dog walking and within easy reach of the sea. Sadly the village pub had closed permanently the week before our stay.

A very pretty cottage in a typical dorset village, with 2 spacious downstairs rooms and plenty of space to enjoy dinner around the large table! Beautiful walks from the door - to the coast path, or up the escarpment to the white horse.
