The Pavilion, Applethwaite Hall is one of a small number of beautiful apartments in this superbly restored Arts and Crafts masterpiece. Originally built for the Roberts family by the renowned architect Thomas Muirhead, who designed the pavilions at The Oval and Old Trafford, Applethwaite Hall was completed in 1901 and enjoys views over Orrest Head and The Langdales. The Hall sits in its own private gardens bordered by woods and fields where deer and badgers are regularly seen.
There are many miles of walks to be enjoyed using the apartment as your base. The walks are suitable for all fitness levels, including scenic lakeside strolls as well as more challenging hikes and climbs. From the apartment itself you can easily walk across National Trust land to Windemere's most famous viewing point Orrest Head, with its spectacular views of the lake and The Langdales. The vibrant town of Windermere is a 15-20 minute walk from the property and is a great place to enjoy the many cafes, pubs and restaurants or browsing the shops and perhaps stocking up on picnic supplies before spending a day on the water or in the hills. Around the lake there are several places to hire boats and other watercrafts, or to hop on board one of the leisure cruises which run up and down the water at a relaxing pace, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the beautiful surroundings with an abundance of birdlife. Or, if you prefer, bring your bike up for your stay, The Pavilion has secure bike storage.
