This annexe-style cottage is set in a tranquil hamlet near Heddon- on- the- Wall, allowing guests a great base to go exploring Northumberland countryside and towns.

A perfect couple’s getaway on the edge of Northumberland. You don't have to head far before reaching the nearby section of Hadrian's Wall remains at Heddon- on- the- Wall, giving you a taste of the heritage in the area and tempt you to head along the course of the wall and explore some of the many settlement sites and walking routes that come along with it. Visiting nearby towns of Hexham and Corbridge are a must, with their lovely selection of bespoke shops and cafes. Around this area of Northumberland you will stumble across many a farm or local business selling local produce; from ice cream at nearby Vallum Far or Wheelbirks icecream parlour, locally brewed ale at High House Farm to smokery products and fresh meat, vegetables at one of the farm shops. For those seeking a romantic retreat, treat yourselves to a spa day at the luxury venue, Matfen Hall or head to Ponteland for an evening of drinks and dining at one of the wide range of eateries in Ponteland or further afield to the vibrant Newcastle City.

On entering this pretty cottage, you will find yourself in the attractive open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. This welcoming and homely cottage has everything you need, whether it’s for a weekend or long stay. The fitted kitchen is well-equipped with a plenty of storage space and electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave and smaller appliances. Enjoy your meal in the dining area to sit in and enjoy your home cooked meal. After a long day, get snuggled up on the two comfy sofas and watch a movie on the TV in the lounge area. Head up the spiral stairs to the first floor, where you will find the light and spacious bedroom with king-size bed, complete with TV, plenty of storage and a beautiful en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Step outside your front door to the courtyard where you can sit and enjoy the evening or an early morning breakfast on the bistro style table and chairs, or perhaps have a BBQ in the shared gardens. This is a cosy cottage which is fine for two and it is a convenient location for exploring the countryside and Newcastle as well. It is well-presented and comfortable for a short stay, but small for more than two or three days. The spiral staircase to get upstairs would be an obstacle for anyone particularly tall or wide. We had been going to come Read morethe following week when it was 25 a night more. If we had paid that, we would have felt it was overpriced for what it is. Hide
