We loved the Bothan...it is what we expected from the description. We stayed for one week at Bothan Buie in beautiful Wester Ross. It is a great little home and has everything you need for a perfect Scottish summer holiday...including cosy wood fire and a hot tub! It's also a dogs paradise with a huge, fully enclosed garden area...my cocker spaniel loved it! The area is also very special. Gairloch has a number of Read moregood cafes and pubs. The new heritage museum has also just opened and is a great spot for a rainy day. Poolewe Tuesday market is a must...as is the coastal drive to Little Loch Broom via Aultbea and Gruinard Bay. There is also the most perfect beach at Mellon Udrigle for a picnic and a paddle. Hide

Superb spot great for walking and fabulous beaches. Bothan Buie was well equipped and clean, quirky and charming. Hot tub was brilliant. We found good local food in the farm shop next to the Gale centre which had a nice cafe and also had a delicious meal in the Badachro Inn. We enjoyed our stay in Gairloch. A small village with a few pubs, chemist, convenience store, coffee house, butchers and chip shop. Bothan Buie was situated up a hill from the village, which made you earn your evening pint. The Bothan Buie had all you needed for a weeks stay, we had read a few reviews, that were a little critical, but to be fair weRead more found that our Bothan Buie accommodation had everything that we needed, yes it was a bit tired but you have to remember it was built a very long time ago, we found it a bit drafty at first but once you got that wood burner going it began to feel very cosy. The hot tub was on all the time and when we arrived we found electric blankets and heaters should we need them. We enjoyed stunning views over Gairloch and we're made to feel very welcome by the local community. The local chippy is a must, best fresh Haddock I have had. If you get a chance visit The Badachro Inn, a great pub and even better food, but to be fair we didn't have a bad meal out (perhaps the service could be a bit cheerier, but maybe that is the way!) Overall a lovely stay with plenty of walks. Hide

A wonderful hideaway! if your looking to escape the rat race for a few days then this is the place to stay. We drove up from Kent to spend a week here and it was just what we needed the cottage just had all that you needed if your not bothered about the internet or constant phone calls and the lovely evenings in the hot tub was bliss for my ruptureRead mored Achilles. The cottage was comfortable and warm the only thing I would say is that being a tall couple - my partner at 6ft 5 did bang his head a few times going up stairs but small price to pay for the solitude. We did go out on the glass bottom boat to see the seals plenty of birds to spot and hear so take your cameras. Hide

The bothie is in a beautiful location. We had excellent weather when we stayed and there was nothing better than sitting in the hot tub admiring the view over to Skye. The village has a few eateries so we weren't stuck for that. We brought our own food for breakfast and lunch which was lucky as we never passed any shops apart from RS MCColls. The lRead moreocation is very handy for hill walking and every road has a view point to park in for some excellent pictures. The bothie itself could do with a bit of work. I hated showering as it was cramped and very awkward. The banister also didn't feel particularly safe. The livingroom (with stove) and dining/kitchen area were an excellent size and I can't fault them. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bothie suited the two of us but as the second bedroom isn't really seperated I'm not sure I'd be keen on having another couple there. Overall we had an excellent time, and just absolutley loved our days away. Hide
