A four-bedroom traditional cottage, set on the Applecross Estate, perfect for families and friends seeking a tranquil base from which to explore the Scottish Highlands and coastline.

Accessed by only two roads, one of which is the dramatic Bealach na Ba - one of the highest roads in Britain - Applecross (1 mile) is a remote peninsula boasting a unique offering of mountain and coastal attractions and activities. With 40km of marked walks around the peninsula, there are walks to suit all ages and abilities from your doorstep. Stroll along the banks of the River Crossan or wander through the ancient trees of Carnach, the Atlantic Rainforest. Test your head for heights with a rock climbing and abseiling adventure on the Applecross crags, or take to the seas for a paddle around the coastline in a sea kayak.

This charming accommodation cottage is a wing of the main house, your rural retreat is approached through the verdant grounds of the estate. Pull into the courtyard, step out of your car and gaze at the imposing country side and the hills of Raasay that watch over your cottage. Step into your cottage where you will be immediately struck by the light and airy accommodation blending clean lines with traditional touches. Your spacious sitting room has plump sofas inviting you to sink into them and forget about the outside world. In the evening, light the wood burner and let its gentle warmth wash over you. Rustle up family meals in the spacious kitchen where you can plan your day's activities over breakfast at the kitchen table. The family cook will appreciate the well-appointed kitchen that comes equipped with an oil-fired Rayburn, electric cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. You also have a handy cloakroom with WC, ideal for freshening up. Gather for your evening meals in the formal dining room, a spacious room with dining table. When it's time for bed, two of your cottage's four bedrooms can be found on the ground floor. A generous double bedroom with antique furniture and pretty soft furnishings is a restful space to snuggle up in. There's also a cosy single room with pine bed dressed in crisp linens and ample storage. Both of your ground-floor bedrooms enjoy en-suite shower rooms with WC. Head upstairs to the other two bedrooms, a spacious king size room and a bright and airy triple room with three single beds. These bedrooms share the family bathroom with WC and there is a further separate WC on this level also.

The cottage was spotless, really spacious and probably the best equipped kitchen with regard to any previous cottage we have stayed in. To have the local red deer grazing on the lawns was special for us townies. If you like walking and wildlife this is the place for you.

Fantastic holiday cottage. We loved the house, facilities and location. Our family would be very happy to travel back to Bramble Lodge again for another holiday, any time. We mainly self-catered, but also enjoyed dining out at the local Potting Shed Restaurant (a special treat) and at the Applecross Inn (fabulous food and service). Appreciate the peace and tranquility, though in autumn the Deer rutting season starts so be prepared for noisy deer outside at night and close to the cottage. Dogs are restricted to the kitchen and utility areas, not an issue for us, and dogs loved the heat from the Aga. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with separate lounge and dining room, theRead more kitchen is huge and well appointed. Hide
