Located in beautiful Perthshire beside the River Tay, enjoy sweeping rural views of the surrounding countryside as far as Schiehallion Mountain. Stroll along the path at the natural beauty spot The Birks of Aberfeldy (0.5 miles), or head to Dewar's Aberfeldy Distillery (1 mile) for a tour and whisky and chocolate tasting. Visit the spectacular Castle Menzies (1.5 miles), and spot the local wildlife including red deer and mountain hares with the help of your guide at Highland Safaris (3 miles).
Inside, the house has retained original features such as wood panelling and stained-glass windows. Step into the panelled hallway, with its impressive double staircase, under which is a cosy snug with armchairs and a wood burner. In the lounge there is further original wood panelling. Read a book in the light of the bay window or settle down in front of the wood burner. Cook dinner in the well-equipped kitchen, complete with butler's pantry, and serve in the ornate dining room before the open fire. On the ground floor you will also find a cloakroom, conservatory, music and games room with TV, DVDs, piano and games, and a double bedroom. Upstairs are a further four bedrooms, three doubles (including one with an additional single bed) and a twin. After a day of adventure, relax in one of the two large Victorian bathrooms, both with bath and WC, where you can soak in an original roll-top bath. There is also a separate shower room, so there will be no queues to get ready in the morning.
Outside, spend a sunny afternoon in the enclosed garden and orchard. Enjoy a game on the croquet lawn before retiring to the summerhouse (which has its own music centre) and lighting the BBQ. To the front of the property is a quiet road, where a few steps down will take you to a peaceful walk along the river.
