From here you can also view the popular Caledonian Canal, which stretches from Inverness to the Loch Eil. Rent a boat for a unique way to see the canal or either loch. The area surrounding the property boasts plenty of woodland to explore and local wildlife and birds dotted around, including Scottish otters and roe deer. For those looking for more of an outdoor adventure, the edge of the Cairngorms National Park is just under 35 miles away.

Enter this bright family property and head straight on through to the open-plan living area, which offers a kitchen, lounge and dining room in one sociable space. The kitchen is a vast place in which to prepare breakfast or a picnic for the day of exploring ahead. Make use of the fridge/freezer, electric oven, microwave and dishwasher, then sit down at the dining table to enjoy time together. The lounge is a cosy space to relax in the evening, with a wood burner alongside a TV with DVD. This floor boasts a utility room, perfect for storing muddy boots and for utilising the washing machine and tumble dryer. A double bedroom with en-suite WC and shower room completes this floor. Heading into the first floor, one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms provide the remainder of space for everyone to rest. A shared family bathroom can be found on this floor, featuring a bath with hand-held shower and WC.

The private garden can be accessed via large patio doors in the lounge, which also works to fill the living space with light. Wooden benches provide a place to read a book in the warmer months. The garden is not enclosed but is far-reaching, and the River Fechlin runs through the bottom of it, making fishing easy to do from the comfort of your own home. Ample parking is available to the front of the house.

The best thing about the cottage is location. You are close to the nature. Seeing the lovely hills from the rear of the garden first thing in the morning is amazing experience. We saw good wild life in and around the cottage. You can see rabbit in the backyard of the cottage every morning. Cottage is very spacious with all necessary home appliancesRead more. Only thing I would to say the actual postcode of the cottage takes you to the other side of the road which is also Dell Estate across the main road. Hide

Found the cottage really clean and enough of the basics - washing up liquid, bin liners, toilet roll etc that they didnt run out after a couple of days. Great location with plenty of walking, cycling etc to keep everyone happy. Great week thank you!

This was our first time experience in self catering holiday unsure what to expect when we got there (having travelled all the way up from Birmingham) had a little problem finding the place but took no more than five minutes to resolve the issue.it was about 9:30pm when we arrived at the cottage.on entering the cottage there were smiles on everybodyRead more's faces (there were 8 of us) it had a immediate effect of home coming on all of us so relaxing and serine.got up early the next morning after a good nights sleep had coffee in the garden. The scenery was absolutely beautiful the vast open space and the mountains were breathtaking and the sheer silence was deafening. We saw deers grazing outside of the bedroom window every morning and hares running around saw a partridge flying out of the bushes while sat in the garden.it is up to the individual as to how adventurous or relaxing time they want to spend here and this fantastic cottage and the location will provide both.should we decide to go self catering again it will definitely be through Cottages and Castles.thank you all for making this a very memorable holiday. We stayed at Brenaig cottage, sister to Fechlin which face each other and are identical properties. Follow the directions sent rather than sat nav or you'll be directed to elsewhere on the Dell Estate. Mostly all positive experiences; comfortable accommodation. Mrs Barclay, the caretaker is lovely, helpful and keeps the place spotless. The area is Read morebeautiful, very scenic; great walks in the area and a wee local river/ forest walk at the back of fechlin. Fort Augustus is only 15 mins by car, it has a small grocery, restaurants and a chippy. You can do loch cruises from here. Other places are a bit of a travel; Inverness 50 mins, Landmark 1hr, Aviemore 1hr 20. We went to Landmark, Inverness swimming, botanics, river and shopping, Aviemore and Fort Augustus. Wonderful steak pie in the local Whitebridge hotel. I'd recommend some improvements for 5 star; new baking trays, furniture in the garden and back lawn moved and clippings cleared as the dogs constantly brought these into the house! The dogs also found the cattle grid hard to get over and kept slipping down, so maybe a board left at the side to move over when going for a walk would be helpful. All in all a lovely relaxing stay.
