This refurbished former Clan MacLeod hunting lodge offers spectacular accommodation in a beautiful location on the Isle of Skye''s northern coast. Enjoy spacious, homely rooms and a large lawned garden in this 1770 property.

This huge 18th-century property is located on the spectacular Isle of Skye, where whale-watching, dramatic sunsets and beautiful hill walking await you. Discover the impressive range of wildlife that dwells on the islands including eagles, deer and even sharks. Or visit the breathtaking Neist Point Lighthouse (2 miles), set on a rocky headland, or go back in time at the exquisite Dunvegan Castle (9 miles), full of fine oil paintings and fascinating clan treasures. With five bedrooms and two bathrooms, the house is ideal for an action-packed holiday among friends or a corporate team-building event. It offers comfortable and spacious accommodation where you can refuel and recharge for the following day's activities.

The property is at the end of a private driveway leading through wooded grounds. Inside, cheerful colours and local artworks and photography create a welcoming and homely feel. Enter through a large porch/boot room where you can change into your slippers; this leads to a big, welcoming lounge with sofas all around the edge. The kitchen is in a country style and has a central table for chopping up veg for group meals. You can eat altogether in the dining room, which has space for up to 14 guests – you'll find a selection of board games here to keep you busy late into the night. Also on the ground floor are two family bedrooms, each with two bunk beds and a double bed. Heading upstairs, the landing at the front of the house leads to the master bedroom, a triple room and a bathroom – don't miss the spectacular sunsets from here – while the back landing gives you access to two more double rooms as well a second bathroom.

Head outside through doors from the kitchen, where you'll find a large walled garden with a good-sized lawn where the children can run around, as well as plenty of shaded areas for the dog to snooze in. There's a table and chairs for dining alfresco on warmer nights. You can park vehicles in the driveway.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £250 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Nice traditional house, with everything you need for a wonderful holiday with family or friends. Great view. Great location if you like tranquility (but you have to know it is a bit remote)

Hamara Lodge is reached by a secluded avenue and overlooks the bay. You can get down to the lovely beach via the field or the lane. It is really spacious and an exciting place to stay. We all loved it. There were lots of sofas in the sitting room, a spacious dining room with lovely views and a really well equipped kitchen with a coffee machine to cRead moreater for crowds. It is comfortable but not luxurious and might be a bit damp in the winter, but that made it all the more relaxing for a family party. Glendale has a fascinating history, a superb village shop with nearly everything you need, two cafes, and excellent walking. You escape the summer crowds into your own terrain and the walled garden is delightful. We would definitely come again. Hide

I spent all of my childhood summer and Easter holidays at Hamara Lodge. It was, and is, a magical place for family holidays. The setting at the head of Loch Poolteil, looking out to the Outer Hebrides, is unrivalled. The house has been sympathetically modernised without destroying its character. The walled garden is safe for children of all ages, wRead morehilst retaining a wild element for the more adventurous. I could not recommend the place more highly. Hide
