This refurbished former Clan MacLeod hunting lodge offers spectacular accommodation in a beautiful location on the Isle of Skye's northern coast. Enjoy spacious, homely rooms and a large lawned garden in this 1770 property.

This huge 18th-century property is located on the spectacular Isle of Skye, where whale-watching, dramatic sunsets and beautiful hill walking await you. Discover the impressive range of wildlife that dwells on the islands including eagles, deer and even sharks. Visit the breathtaking Neist Point Lighthouse (2 miles), set on a rocky headland, or go back in time at the exquisite Dunvegan Castle (9 miles), full of fine oil paintings and fascinating clan treasures. With four bedrooms and two bathrooms, the house is ideal for an action-packed holiday among friends or a corporate team-building event. It offers comfortable and spacious accommodation where you can refuel and recharge for the following day's activities.

The property is at the end of a private driveway leading through wooded grounds. Inside, cheerful colours and local artworks and photography create a welcoming and homely feel. Enter through a large porch/boot room where you can change into your slippers; this leads to a big, welcoming lounge with comfortable sofas. The kitchen is in a country style and has a central table for chopping up veg for group meals. You can eat altogether in the dining room where you will find a selection of board games to keep you busy late into the night. Heading upstairs, the landing at the front of the house leads to the master bedroom, a triple room and a bathroom – don't miss the spectacular sunsets from here – while the back landing gives you access to two more double rooms as well a second bathroom.

Head outside through doors from the kitchen, where you'll find a large walled garden with a good-sized lawn where the children can run around, as well as plenty of shaded areas for the dog to snooze in. There's a table and chairs for dining alfresco on warmer nights. Private parking by the house.

A really good base for a family holiday. Lovely location, great garden and grounds, quiet. The house is perfectly adequately furnished so that you dont have to worry about anything getting damaged. A new central heating system has been installed which should help with the damp and slightly musty smell. Overall though a good place.

This is a great place stay quite comfortable and lots of space. The walled garden is great of kids and dogs. The wildlife is amazing, plenty of birds of prey and the seal colony within walking distance. The local post office/store is really friendly and is a treasure trove of all the things we forgot. We loved this place.

Hamara Lodge had been updated since our last visit 19 years ago. The Accommodation was comfortable and homely and the local shop was excellent for the food and log supplies. The weather was much better than forecast and we were able to enjoy the wonderful walks, beach and attempted fishing. lovely but basic accommodation. Very comfortable, lovely but remote location, was perfect for us . Good amenities in nearby Dunvegan. Lots to do around the area if you like the outdoors. Easy enough to travel around Skye.

Nice traditional house, with everything you need for a wonderful holiday with family or friends. Great view. Great location if you like tranquility (but you have to know it is a bit remote)

It is comfortable but not luxurious and might be a bit damp in the winter, but that made it all the more relaxing for a family party.
